**About the role**
bp’s trading and origination business is a unique, cross-commodity model that spans global energy markets. We are consistently ranked the largest natural gas marketer in North America, and also the top ten marketers of power. We have robust power offerings, from serving large wholesale customers to retail end-use consumers.
The Senior Advisor, Regulatory Affairs - Power is responsible for supporting bp's wholesale, retail, and low carbon power trading and origination businesses in the Eastern U.S. and Texas. This will be primarily accomplished by monitoring federal and state regulatory and legislative changes that impact the power markets in the in those regions, and diligently communicating those changes to the commercial teams.
This role is a unique opportunity for the ideal candidate to engage in multiple commodities across several states and regions.
**Key accountabilities**
• Follow the existing and prospective wholesale market rules at the Eastern U.S. and Texas Independent System Operators (ISOs). Participate in ISO stakeholder process on an ad-hoc basis
• Communicate existing and potential regulations, rules and laws quickly and effectively to the respective bp businesses, with focus on wholesale power, retail power, natural gas and low carbon
• Participate in, and represent bp at, various industry trade associations
• Work with bp's Communications & External Affairs (C&EA) team to follow federal and state legislative changes, and advocate for well-designed markets that are aligned with bp's corporate aims and ambitions
• Work with bp's C&EA team to represent bp before federal and state regulators, legislators and other policymakers
• Work with bp's Legal team to prepare, evaluate and interpret legal filings related to bp's businesses.
• Work with bp's Finance and Risk teams to assess the potential impact of regulatory and legal changes on bp's businesses
• Expected travel approximately 10%
**Essential education**
• Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent
**Essential experience requirements**
• Minimum 10 years’ experience with wholesale or retail power markets, ideally ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM and ERCOT
• Minimum 15 years of directly relevant experience in a Commercial, Regulatory, Compliance or Legal environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability convey complex market rules in a concise manner
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams spanning various commodities and business lines

How much do we pay? ($166,000 - $356,000)
*Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
This position is eligible for US Benefits – Core, US Benefits. This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120-240 hours of vacation per year for full time employees (60-240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
