The Senior Advisor to the Deputy CEO is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing and driving the strategic planning process, including program evaluation, and providing comprehensive programmatic support to the Deputy CEO. This position serves as a critical link across multiple divisions, diving deep into NJEDA programs and initiatives, particularly in areas such as Economic Transformation, Community Development, Real Estate, Operations, and Administrative Support. The ideal candidate will have extensive public sector economic development or program management experience, thrive on diving deep into multiple programs simultaneously, and be energized by NJEDA's mission of fostering sustainable and equitable economic growth.

Note: The NJEDA currently offers a hybrid work schedule for up to 2 days of telecommute work from home. To participate, you will be required to have high speed home internet access and a managers approval. This program does not supersede the "New Jersey First Act", which requires newly hired NJEDA employees to establish and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
ResponsibilitiesDaily Tasks and Responsibilities:
Serve as a primary liaison between the Deputy CEO and their reporting departments, ensuring efficient communication, coordination, and timely execution of priority projects. Conduct research and analysis to support projects overseen by the Deputy CEO, helping to inform decisions and advance project progress. Provide comprehensive oversight on multiple projects simultaneously on behalf of the Deputy CEO, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and proactively identifying potential issues. Provide the Deputy CEO with critical insights, advice, and feedback on EDA programs and initiatives.Projects:
Strategic Planning: Lead the day-to-day project management, facilitation, and execution of NJEDA’s strategic planning process, gathering and synthesizing input from cross-divisional stakeholders to ensure implementation and alignment with the organization’s overarching goals and mission. Monitor and facilitate engagement with the Board throughout the process. Program Evaluation: In collaboration with key members of Executive Leadership, establish the framework for the Authority’s program evaluation process. Partner with Policy, Research, Government Affairs and Operations teams to evaluate the impact and efficacy of NJEDA programs on a regular basis. Analyze program data and prepare comprehensive evaluation reports for leadership focused on identifying best practices and reporting on opportunities for future program optimization. Priority Project Management: Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of priority projects identified by the Deputy CEO across the Authority. Collaborate with cross-divisional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and align with organizational objectives. Develop detailed project plans, monitor progress, and provide regular updates to the Deputy CEO. Attend meetings and make interim decisions on behalf of the Deputy CEO, consistent with business objectives and the Authority’s mission. Identify and address challenges proactively to maintain momentum and achieve desired outcomes.Goals and Objectives:
Establish and maintain clear milestones for strategic projects, ensuring progress aligns with the organization’s overarching goals. Drive the successful development and implementation of NJEDA’s multi-year Strategic Plan, with measurable outcomes and regular progress reports. Deliver actionable insights and recommendations on programs and priority initiatives that directly impact organizational decision-making and long-term strategy.Collaboration and Cross-Divisional Interaction:
Serve as a central point of contact to foster teamwork, share knowledge, and promote cohesion among various divisions within the Deputy CEO’s organization.Reporting Structure:
Reports directly to the Deputy CEO, serving as a trusted advisor and ensuring alignment with strategic priorities. Operates with a high degree of autonomy in decision-making, guided by the strategic objectives set by the Deputy CEO, while providing regular updates and seeking input on key decisions. Must complete annual self-assessment as required. Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned. QualificationsSkills and Qualifications
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in strategic planning, economic development frameworks, and program evaluation methodologies. Strong project management capabilities, including the ability to coordinate complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.Soft Skills:
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Commitment to fostering a collaborative, innovative, and ethical work environment. Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations. Effective communication skills, serving as a liaison between the Deputy CEO and their reporting departments to ensure smooth information flow and alignment of priorities.Experience:
A minimum of 7+ years of experience in economic development, strategic planning, or a related field. Advanced degree or industry specific certification may be substituted for 1 year of experienceEducation:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required; advanced degree or industry-specific certification is preferred.Software/Tools Proficiency:
NJEDA utilizes Microsoft as the core application platform and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
