The Global Merchant and Network Services Technology (GMNST) organization at American Express is responsible for modernizing the payments network to enable next-generation payments products. The team creates flexible merchant platforms to acquire, bill, pay, service and foster innovation, while enabling a payments ecosystem to connect and authenticate parties seamlessly and securely

American Express is making strategic investments in new card network products and platforms to allow the company to meet its ambitious global growth agenda. Card Network platform is a distributed near real time low latency system that is always available and highly resilient, processing transactions from around the world 24x7, 365 days a year. American Express Global Card Network Platform authorizes and processes all of the company’s customer card transactions.

American Express is seeking a Senior Agile Champion for the Global Network technology team.  This role requires the strong communication skills and the ability to translate business objectives into an execution strategy while resolving and tracking program risks, dependencies, and impediments to project delivery.  

·         Facilitates Agile events that help the Engineering team deliver value incrementally and iteratively.

·         Embeds Agile ways of working Supports the Program Increment (PI) execution through facilitating team level events and partners with the RTE Supports the team in achieving the PI objectives

·         Supports Product Owners through backlog refinement, backlog readiness, definition of ready/done and support writing user stories Supports coordination across Team of Teams (Agile Release Train (ART)/Release Train Engineer (RTE)

·         Ability to manage multiple projects across multiple teams

·         Works within and across team(s) to anticipate, track, and resolve risks and impediments to delivery

·         Experience managing multiple initiatives, priorities and teams Independently drives work

·         Understands and aligns priorities to the program vision and strategy

·         Independently defines problems and identifies solutions in the face of ambiguity

·         Supports, monitors, and provides visibility around gaps, impediments, risks, and dependencies

·         Strong ability to manage change in a dynamic environment and influence others without direct authority

·         Fosters practices for identifying, tracking, discussing and resolving cross-team dependencies within the team, taking ownership of a dependency in some circumstances

·         Manages and organizes delivery effectiveness metrics to track progress and improvement over time Understands and demonstrates the Agile at Scale Values and Principles.

·         Encourages diversity of thought and demonstrates an open mindset.

·         Fosters a culture of trust and leadership in others Supports a learning culture to drive continuous improvements and standardization.

·         Respectfully and purposefully challenges the status quo. Supports collaboration and quality practices between Agile and product teams.

·         Ensures compliance with SDLC standards across the team Ensures data integrity for the teams within the Agile Management tools and compliance with SDLC audits Influences team without authority.

·         Engages Agile Coaches to drive change and influence beyond own influence and authority.

Minimum Qualifications

·         Degree in computer science, computer engineering, project management or equivalent professional experience

·         3+ years of Agile Champion experience facilitating Agile, Scrum, or other rapid application development teams to deliver solutions. Current/active CSM or PMP-ACP certification or equivalent certification required; SAFe Agilist certification a plus.

·         Ability and aptitude to learn new technical domain quickly

·         Ability to influence and gain alignment at all levels of the organization including senior leadership.

·         Builds high trust and creditability across the organization through deep domain knowledge of the business and underlying technology. Supporting and improving the usage of DevOps, CI/CD (continuous Integration /Continuous Deployment) across the Agile train(s).

·         Strong facilitation and communication skills. Industry and Company Knowledge Shows skill in Agile/Lean/SAFe Principles and Frameworks quality and testing best practices.

·         Technical experience preferred as well, not seeking a coder, but someone who understands technology to allow impediment removal for engineers they will be leading.

·         Rally Agility management tooling & experience in SAFe framework preferred.

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
