The Opportunity

This position works out of our Santa Clara, CA location in the Corporate IT Organization supporting Digital Technology Services.  

We are looking for a savvy, innovative AI Engineer to help us build artificial intelligence products. The ideal candidate has exceptional skills and experience in statistics and machine learning model development and will be responsible for designing and developing AI systems. They will be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data science needs for diverse range of products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of thought leadership and applying machine learning to support Abbott’s next generation of products and data initiatives.

What You’ll Work On

Develop and apply industry leading machine learning and deep learning systems to help solve business problemsApply natural language processing and generative AI, and customize large language models for use in product applicationsDevelop and fine tune algorithms and models for time series and computer vision applicationsLead design and coding of big data and machine learning systemsAbility to translate business needs and goals into an AI approach and solution, and articulate findings to a non-technical audienceDesign model performance metrics and retraining scheduleAssist with deploying models to public cloud infrastructure such as AWS and Microsoft AzureMentor other engineers, remain aware of new developments in the field, and help build and grow the team

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field7 years of leading the design and architecture of new and existing machine learning systems5 years of experience of professional software developmentExperience with natural language processing and generative AI

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate degree in computer science, mathematics, or another quantitative field10 years of experience in model development for time series data, signal, image, and video processingDeep knowledge of math, probability, statistics, and algorithmsOutstanding analytical and problem-solving skillsPrior experience in the healthcare or other regulated industriesExperience using the following software/tools:Unsupervised and supervised learning methodsNLP and large language model frameworks such as spaCy and langchainMachine learning frameworks such as Keras, PyTorch, or TensorflowLibraries such as numpy, scikit-learn, scipy and statsmodelProgramming languages: Python, .NET Core, Java

The base pay for this position is $125,700.00 – $251,500.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
