EPCOR Water Services group is hiring for two (2) permanent full-time Senior Analysts, Capital Assets to join the Finance Team based at the Rossdale Water Treatment plant located in the picturesque river valley in Edmonton, AB.

What you’d be responsible for
In the Senior Analyst role you are accountable to the Capital Manager of the team and will have the following key accountabilities (but are not limited to these):
Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics. Planning, coordinating and providing complete, accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual variance analysis for BU capital projects through working with project managers. Demonstrating an understanding of assigned capital projects through variance analysis, accruals and financial analysis.Reviewing and optimizing Capital Assets processes to ensure compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and ensuring mitigation of risks. Assess internal controls to ensure adequacy and compliance with Canadian Sarbanes-Oxley processes.Providing customer-focused financial support and analysis related to capital projects by working closely with the BU, Capital Governance & Reporting team, Project Management Office team and project managers.Providing system support and administration of the Oracle Fixed Assets, Oracle Projects, Adaptive and other related systems, including participating in the development and testing of system upgrades.Analyzing financial information and prepare journal vouchers with supporting source documentation as required for both International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Regulatory Sub-ledgers.Reconciling and analyzing assigned account reconciliations for omissions, posting or classification errors.For projects funded by grants, understanding the terms and conditions of the grant, coordinating reporting requirements and completing any financial analysis required.Developing an understanding of the key differences in accounting treatment of capital related items under IFRS and Regulatory filings. Processing regulatory differences Oracle entries in the regulatory set of books.Providing training and coaching to junior peers as well as employees in the MDP (Management Development Program).Supporting continuous improvement by developing and implementing process improvements in the Capital Assets area.Other key accountabilities that are on an “as required” basis include:Assisting the Manager of Capital Assets in IFRS research and technical topics.Performing other duties and special projects.Supporting annual budget/long term plan process and regulatory filings, including variance analysis, presentation materials and assisting with Information Requests (IRs).Coordinating and completing interim/year-end reporting and analysis including supporting audit documentation, internal and external audit queries as well as regulatory reporting.What’s required to be successful
Qualifications, experience and behaviours you possess are:
Completion of a DEGREE in Business, Finance or Accounting (or similar) from a recognized post-secondary educational institute.Professional designation as a CPA (CA, SMA, CGA or CFA) is a strong asset to have and is very beneficial for the successful candidate.Experience that includes:4+ directly related and progressively responsible in a professional accounting role.Working in teams and collaborating with people who did not primarily work in a finance environment.Ability to:Manipulate, assess and summarize trends and conclusions from large sets of numerical data.Demonstrate your advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications (primarily Excel).Frequently transition between working independently and supporting team initiatives.Collaborate with operational or wider Finance team to achieve overall objectives.Strong knowledge of IFRS and ability to research IFRS technical topics.Demonstrable understanding of financial and regulatory process.EPCOR related understanding and use of Oracle financial systems (in particular but not limited to Oracle Fixed Assets) is a valuable asset.A keen attention to detail, results-oriented demeanor and excellent planning and organizational skills.Proactively acquires and uses technical, procedural and professional information and skills to achieve objectives on time and to defined standards.Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders is a key success factor in this position.

Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and is based on a combination of factors as outlined in the CA that may be found online.Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday
