Highlights of the job

We are hiring a full time, permanent Senior Analyst, Finance position working out of Edmonton, AB.

 

The Senior Analyst, Finance is accountable for preparation, analysis and evaluation of IFRS and regulatory budgets and forecasts and full-cycle accounting for our North American Commercial Services business unit; this role is also responsible for supporting regulatory rate filings and month end and quarterly reporting.

What you’d be responsible forEnsuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics by producing accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting while ensuring that Corporate and Business Unit financial deadlines are metIdentifying and evaluating financial reporting needs, data requirements and business processes to support reliable financial reportingAssessing risks of changes to financial reporting systems, developing testing procedures/scenarios accordingly and evaluating the test resultsSupporting leadership decision making by facilitating and providing guidance and financial analysis that adds value to the business areas and allows for strategically sound decisions makingEnsuring proper accounting treatments for routine, non-routine and complex transactionsResearching appropriate accounting standards and developing recommendations on moderately complex accounting policies under IFRS accounting standards supporting the adequacy of financial statements disclosure against IFRS requirementsContributing to the ongoing process improvement initiative and assisting with special projects, as required, such as providing input and support for software system upgrades or replacementsMaintain high quality internal controls, including providing inputs to the design of controls for new processes and transactionsWhat’s required to be successfulPost-secondary degree in Business, Finance or Accounting from a recognized education institution is requiredProfessional accounting designationMinimum 4 years’ directly related accounting experience including, but not limited to:Developing appropriate accounting policies and proceduresEvaluating financial reporting needs, data requirements and business processes to support reliable financial reportingDesigning analytical and financial reports to meet reporting needs identifiedAssessing risks of changes to financial reporting systems, developing testing procedures/scenarios accordingly and evaluating the test results Preparing, analyzing and evaluating budget and forecasts Evaluating sources and drivers of revenue/costsLiaising with external and internal auditorsStrong analytical skills including proficiency with Microsoft ExcelAbility to apply accounting standards knowledge and judgment to research and develop recommendations on moderately complex accounting policies in accordance with regulatory and EPCOR policies and standardsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience designing, implementing documenting or auditing processes/controlsExperience in contract review and contract managementAbility to prioritize and manage competing priorities effectivelyAbility to review processes to assess compliance with CSOX requirementsExperience with budgeting and ERP/reporting software for large organizations (e.g. Oracle GL systems, Workday Adaptive Planning and Office Connect, and Oracle Business Intelligence)

Wage: Starting at $50.95 per hour (Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and are subject to change based on the ratification of the new Collective Agreement)

Hours of work: 75 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday
