We are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Analyst to become an integral part of the Canadian tax team. Reporting to the Tax Director, the Senior Tax Analyst will be responsible for a dynamic workload with a primary focus on Canadian tax compliance and reporting.

Responsibilities (directly supported by the Tax Director)

Prepare the federal and provincial income tax and non-income tax filings for multiple legal entitiesPreparation of annual tax budget, quarterly and year-end tax provisions and reporting packages to Parent Company, and ad-hoc reporting as required for Parent CompanyPreparation of Quarterly tax provisions for Canadian Public Company reporting (TSX: CSW) and assist with external auditor requestsRespond to notices and inquiries from tax authoritiesPrepare monthly tax account reconciliationsAssist in federal and provincial income and non-income tax auditsOversee the Company’s tax filing calendar and ensure compliance for all federal, and provincial filing obligationsAssist in tax research, planning, transfer pricing analysis and ad-hoc projectsWork cross-functionally with other finance teams, including HQ Tax, Finance, FP&A and affiliatesStay current on technical developmentsManage the day-to-day administrative tasks of a tax department (prepare and calculate tax installments, monthly sales tax filings, account reconciliations, desk audits, setting up user access through CRA’s “Represent a Client”, and assist other departments in various government filings, when required)

Requirements

Strong understanding of Canadian Income Tax legislation and the Excise Tax ActExperience in GST/HST/QST (filings, research, audit support, business support)4 to 5 years of relevant corporate tax experience (large business)CPA designation requiredCPA In-Depth Tax Program an asset (or willingness to obtain through company continuing education program)Strong tax technical background in tax return preparation, tax provision preparation, deferred tax analysisProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Taxprep, and research softwareDetail oriented, with ability to provide clear and concise summationsStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong work ethic with the capability of working independently with minimal supervision while being a team playerHighly motivated with an eagerness to learn, aptitude for problem solving, and ability to identify opportunities to improve current processesAbility to learn and master internal reporting systems, and utilize the existing technology to improve the efficiency of the tax departmentWillingness to learn and assist in other areas of taxation once core skills are mastered (i.e. transfer pricing, Pillar II Reporting, various complex calculations (EIFEL, FAPI, Surplus, etc.) to support future growth potential and career development
