As a Senior Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Investigator, you will take on a leadership role in detecting and preventing financial crimes within our organization. Your experience and expertise will be crucial in identifying complex money laundering schemes, analyzing suspicious activities, and ensuring compliance with AML regulations. You’ll collaborate closely with the AML team, regulators, and law enforcement agencies to maintain the integrity of our financial systems.
Advanced Transaction Analysis:
Dive deep into intricate financial transactions to uncover hidden patterns and anomalies.Identify sophisticated money laundering techniques and assess their impact.Case Management and Reporting:
Lead investigations into suspicious activities, documenting findings in detailed reports.Collaborate with senior management and compliance officers for review and action.Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR):
Prepare SARs based on identified suspicious transactions.Collaborate with law enforcement and regulatory authorities as needed.Maintain confidentiality of reports and documentation as required by lawSystem Optimization:
Assist in the evaluation and testing of rule thresholds.Assist in maintaining and testing the data inputs used by the transaction monitoring system.Regulatory Expertise:
Stay abreast of evolving AML laws, regulations, and industry best practices.Interpret complex regulatory requirements and provide guidance to junior investigators.Collaboration and Training:
Mentor and train junior investigators on advanced investigative techniques.Work closely with auditors, regulators, and law enforcement agencies.Build relationships with internal stakeholders to advance the cooperation between investigations and client facing partners.Technological Proficiency:
Utilize tools such as SQL and Excel to analyze complex financial transaction data efficiently.Adapt to technological advancements in the field.Strategic Decision-Making:
Make and communicate informed decisions based on comprehensive analysis and risk assessment.Identify potential efficiencies in processes and make supported recommendations for improvements.Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in AML investigations or related fields.Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Decision Sciences, Econometrics, MIS, or Business, or equivalent job experience in banking.Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or equivalent designation preferred.Intermediate to Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AML software tools.Desired Skills

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $75,000 - 95,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
