**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The Senior Application Engineer serves as a senior team member for design, build, implementation and support of ITG Care Management enterprise application initiatives. This position collaborates with members of the team to ensure quality applications are delivered on time following business owner specifications and HCA Healthcare ITG development standards. This candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and supporting enterprise-level data engineering solutions, primarily leveraging Databricks, Azure, and GCP tools. With a focus on high-quality delivery and innovation, this role involves implementing robust data pipelines, driving architecture decisions, and integrating diverse technologies like Python and C#. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced Agile environment, collaborating across mixed teams of consultants and employees to deliver impactful solutions that meet dynamic business needs. Additionally, the Senior Application Engineer will provide second-level support for legacy and modern systems, demonstrating leadership and mentorship within the team.
The Senior Application Engineer must be a highly motivated self-starter, an enthusiastic learner, and must be committed to delivering high quality solutions within scheduled timelines.
**GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Development Leadership**
Lead the design and implementation of scalable, fit-for-purpose data engineering solutions using Databricks and other modern platforms aligned to customer’s strategic plans and technology roadmaps
Collaborates with team members to successfully execute development initiatives using Agile practices and principles
Shares knowledge and experience to contribute to growth of overall team
Provide guidance to more junior colleagues in efforts of design, development, deployment, and supporting software systems
Integrates new/existing software with existing systems
Serve as a leader to the team’s continuous integration and continuous delivery automation pipeline and deployment processes
**Collaboration and Communication**
Collaborates with business analysts, project lead, management and customers on requirements, translating them into technical solutions
Focuses on customer satisfaction in an environment with rapidly changing business requirements and priorities
Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, demonstrating value-based decision-making to prioritize stakeholders’ requests
Document designs, processes, and troubleshooting techniques with a focus on knowledge sharing and team growth.
**Technical Expertise**
Build and maintain robust data processing systems using Python, SQL, Spark SQL, and related tools
Leverage GCP-native tools such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and Dataproc to architect data lake and data warehouse solutions
Work with streaming data and tools like Kafka to design real-time data processing pipelines.
Gain a deep understanding of existing legacy systems and provide ongoing technical support and improvement recommendations
Process oriented with excellent documentation skills
Rapidly prototypes and delivers just-in-time solutions
Designs and implements monitoring and alerting mechanisms for data processing systems
Ability to write and execute unit/integration testing

**EDUCATION**
Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
**RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE**
5 or more years
**OTHER/SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS**
**Required Qualifications**
5 or more years of engineering, delivering and supporting production software products
Demonstration of and belief in the Scrum Agile mindset
Excellent troubleshooting, analysis, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent Python, SQL, T SQL, Spark SQL. SQL Server skills
Familiarity and understand of innate GCP tools, Dataproc, BigQuery and Dataflow
Experience using Databricks and ETL processing
Designing, building and maintaining data processing systems
Delivery of past software systems with documented value
Strong focus on delivering customer value
Ability to engineer and build software through multiple languages and tools (C#, Python, etc.)
Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to work with staff and stakeholders
Willingness to learn our business domain
**Preferred Qualifications**
Experience working with Kafka, streaming data sets
Understanding of networking architecture, virtual networks and subnets
Exposure to Azure tools and environments
