Senior Application Support Specialist

Job Summary

Coordinates production support activities for all major systems and related subsystems to ensure the integrity of computer generated data. Applies experience and seasoned knowledge, skills, and practices to perform a variety of assignments.

Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to fill a vacancy within the HP TANDEM Nonstop Trading Application Support group. This group is responsible for supporting the BERTON Order Management System, establishing and supporting/maintaining the UAT, IST, and Production environments. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise on HP TANDEM Nonstop related technologies to investigate production issues with trading applications. As a senior member of the technical support team you will also work closely with internal infrastructure groups and offshore vendor(s) for the timely delivery of infrastructure/application related projects.

What will you do?

Assist with the day to day management/troubleshooting/fault isolation process for application problems on a 7/24 basis.Ability to identify operational and business risks associated with problem situations/outages and changes.Assist in the investigation and analysis of application operational failures including writing up of incident and root cause analysis reports.Assist with the closure to all production issues raised.Responsible for providing managerial reporting and statistical accumulation of incidents, client requests and other work items.Maintain technical currency by actively seeking out industry trends and organization knowledge to understand alternative approaches / solutions.Manage QA environments (UAT, IST).Develop team management capability and assist in helping set direction and vision for the team.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as a senior software engineer with proven production support capability/the ability to effectively resolve high severity production issues in a timely manner.Strong Technical skills with HP Tandem NonStop platform/applications. Required skillset includes - SCOBOL, COBOL, Enscribe, HP Tandem Pathway, TACL, ENFORM, iTP web/Soap, IBM MQ, Non Stop/Operating Systems (Guardian, OSS), Shadowbase. Some technical capabilities on UNIX, and WINDOWS platforms and exposure to Java and SQL.Good communication skills coupled with the ability to foster strong relationships with technology, business partners and leadership.Ability to recommend technology solutions that meet sponsor/stakeholder needs.Knowledge of wealth management business domain and trading instruments such as equity, options, mutual-funds and fixed income.

Nice to have.

Ability to provide consulting services on new and strategic initiatives/develop feasibility studies and proposals for senior management and executive decisions on large complex projects.Understanding of IT standards, Methodologies, CMM and Audit requirements.Exposure to DevOps automation tools (example: UrbanCodeDeploy).General knowledge of factors affecting business/good knowledge of trends in the marketplace/ technology.
