(https://dudek.com/our-firm/our-culture/) About The Job We are seeking a professional arborist with 10 or more years of arboriculture and/or urban forestry expertise to join Dudek’s growing Urban Forestry group. A key part of the role will be to actively seek out and secure new business opportunities, win work, and assist with the growth of Dudek’s client base in the greater Bay Area. The ideal candidate should have experience developing and maintaining strong client relationships, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities through networking, marketing, and client referrals. Along with business development, the candidate will independently conduct tree assessments, prepare reports, engage with clients, manage projects, and working collaboratively on project teams. This position will be based in Dudek’s Oakland office and is expected to include travel throughout the region for project-related tasks, as necessary. Duties and Responsibilities:  + Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction. + Actively seek and secure new business opportunities through networking, marketing, and client referrals. + Provide expert advice and recommendations to clients on tree care and management. + Prepare and present proposals, scopes, budgets, and bids for new projects. + Manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and efficient delivery. + Conducting individual tree evaluations and tree risk assessments. + Evaluating project data, development site plans, and other project-related technical reports. + Collecting field data utilizing field computers, tablets, and global positioning system (GPS) units. + Processing and analyzing field-collected data. + Analyzing data and conducting project-related research. + Preparing arborist reports and other technical reports related to tree and urban forest management. + Developing written tree management recommendations. + Presenting findings to decision-making bodies, project teams, and industry groups. + Keep up-to-date with industry developments, techniques, and best practices. + Working collaboratively with project planners, engineers, biologists, GIS staff, and other resource specialists. Minimum Requirements + Certification as an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist with Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) required. + Minimum of 10 years of experience as an arborist. + Bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, environmental science, or other related field. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills.  + Proven track record of winning work and securing new business in the arboricultural industry. + Additional desired qualifications include: excellent writing skills, project management and client development experience, and experience with GIS, GPS, plant/tree identification, and arboricultural and vegetation management practices. + Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment * As a federal contractor, successful candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment: pre - employment drug test and background check. Physical Requirements Working Conditions: + This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc. + This job requires occasional project site visits-based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, moving vehicles and equipment. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met in order to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. + This job requires working on a computer, sitting or standing for long periods of time in an office or remote office setting. + This job requires attending meetings, both in person and virtually as well as speaking on the phone with peers, clients, etc. Speaking, hearing and listening are required. + Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. + Outdoor activity may involve walking/trekking in uneven terrain over long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.   Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Proposed Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000 annually* *Final agreed upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
