Archaeological sites are an irreplaceable part of history in British Columbia, Canada (B.C.) and are critically important to Indigenous communities. There are over 62,000 known archaeological sites in B.C., 90 per cent of which are of Indigenous origin. Indigenous Peoples have an ongoing connection to this history. Many archaeological sites in B.C. are culturally sensitive, contain ancestral remains, and have important sacred and spiritual value to Indigenous Peoples in B.C.
Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking an energetic, passionate, self-motivated Senior Archaeologist and Indigenous Relations Specialist(s) to join our team in BC. One or more roles may be filled from this recruitment process.

Bachelor’s degree and/or technical diploma in archaeology6 years of relevant experienceMust be able to hold a permit to complete archaeological assessments in one or more B.C. Culture AreasExperience with Indigenous consultation and engagement in B.C.Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s licencePreferred Qualifications
8 + years of relevant experienceExisting relationships with Indigenous communities in B.C. with an understanding of regional and community characteristicsAcknowledge of the unique historical, contemporary, cultural, and traditional characteristics of Indigenous communities in B.C. including of the socio-economic relationships they have with the land and their unique knowledge of the natural environment.Experience working on large infrastructure projects in B.C.; existing relationships with entities such as B.C.
