We're seeking a dedicated Senior Assistant Resident Engineer to contribute expertise and leadership to work on Design-Build projects in Division 13 (Asheville area).\n

Responsibilities:\n\nOversee various construction operations for roadways and structures, ensuring compliance with project contracts, standards, and specifications.\nPerform moderate to complex inspection and survey work, ensuring materials and processes meet required standards.\nReview and manage project documentation, including daily diaries, sample cards, asphalt reports, NPDES reports, material received forms, survey notes, and monthly estimates.\nProvide training and support to inspection staff, ensuring NCDOT certifications are maintained.\nCreate, maintain, and analyze project reports and records.\nLead or actively participate in progress and coordination meetings.\nMonitor and track testing to confirm compliance with minimum sampling requirements.\nSupport the Resident Engineer and other team members in project execution.\nDocument project findings and implement corrective actions as needed.\nCommunicate effectively, presenting information clearly to individuals or groups, both orally and in writing.\nInterpret plans and specifications, ensuring construction work aligns with project requirements.\nTrack contractor progress and provide regular updates.\n\n

Qualifications and Skills:\n\nBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with at least four years of experience in roadway and bridge construction and inspection. \nPE preferred and not required\nNCDOT experience preferred\nContract administration experience\nStrong understanding of roadway and bridge construction processes, inspection techniques, and material testing.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and iPad\/tablet-based data entry systems.\nCompetency in mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, for field adjustments and calculations.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with contractors, agency personnel, and the public.\nExceptional time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.\nPhysical ability to work on construction sites, including walking over rough terrain, standing for long hours, bending, stooping, and working in various weather conditions.\nValid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to drive.\n\n
