Position will assist the Division Traffic Engineer with reviewing project plans, traffic impact analysis, handling the necessary coordination for developments and projects in design / under construction, performing general safety and mobility traffic studies including reviews for speed zones, warning signs, pavement markings, pedestrian accommodations, etc. Attending meetings related to these items as needed. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

+ Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems
Additional Expectations:
Works independently. Performs complex and detailed work such as traffic studies, contracts, and plan reviews. Makes decisions and knowledgeable of all policies and procedures to ensure NCDOT specifications are being met. This position will require computer skills. Performs written and verbal communication with contractors, public, and other departments. Performs mathematical calculations accurately. Attend meetings as needed. Safety toe footwear is required. Must be able to legally operate a State vehicle.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification:
May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
