Senior Associate, Industry Specialty Services

Job Summary:

The Senior Associate in the Industry Specialty Services Group’s Nonprofit and Grantmaker Advisory team will provide professional services that are sensitive to the needs and values of both nonprofit organizations and funders that support them. This is a unique opportunity for a mission-oriented finance and accounting professional who wants to leverage their nonprofit expertise to support organizations across many mission areas and geographic reach.

The Nonprofit and Grantmaker Advisory team is a growth-oriented management consulting practice dedicated to building the capacity of the nonprofit sector. We partner with our nonprofit and philanthropic clients to help them attain operational excellence, ensure financial sustainability, and effectively achieve their desired impact. Our collaborative approach includes client input and involvement at each stage of an engagement. 

Responsibilities vary based on engagements and client needs and will require an independent and multi-talented professional with accounting experience and a consulting mindset. The Senior Associate must be collaborative, proactive, and flexible – and adapt easily to changing client needs. 


Job Duties:

Service Delivery

Delivers not-for-profit financial and accounting services including but not limited to processing transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, completing bank reconciliations, and processing expense allocations Supports with budget development, cash flow planning, software implementation, training, and audit support package development Proactively recommends and implements more efficient service delivery mechanisms Supports leadership teams in making financial decisions including presenting analysis and findings and effectively communicating complicated financial information to a variety of audiences that have varying levels of financial literacy Assists in complying with new nonprofit financial reporting and disclosure standards Supports fiscal and operational infrastructure assessments Supports with grants management, including billing, budgeting, accounting, and compliance reporting with private, federal, state agencies (while recognizing restrictions and advising accordingly) Supports organizations that are going through change, deploying coaching and change management lenses Other duties as required

Practice and Product Development

Actively participates in the development of Transition Advisory Services, including monthly meetings and other areas of product development Identifies ways to make engagements more efficient and productive

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education: 

Bachelor's degree with a focus in Accounting, Business, or Finance, required

Experience:

Two (2) or more years demonstrated accounting experience, required Experience with accounting systems and nonprofit accounting principles, required  Experience working with nonprofits, preferred  Experience with grants management and government funding, preferred

License/Certifications:

N/A

Software:

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, required  

Language(s):

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strong verbal and written communication skills

 

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

California Range:  $80,000 - $95,000
Colorado Range:   $80,000 - $95,000
Maryland Range:   $80,000 - $95,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range:   $80,000 - $95,000
Washington Range:   $80,000 - $95,000
Washington DC Range:   $80,000 - $95,000
