Senior Associate, Market Strategist - Asset Management

**What You'll Do**
We’re looking for a Senior Associate, Market Strategist to join Principal Asset Management’s Insights team. The team is a global investment strategy group focused on macroeconomic issues that impact financial markets. In this role, you’ll formulate and present the firms' macro strategy and broad asset class views to internal and external stakeholders.
As a member of the Insights team, the Global Market Strategist will craft timely and impactful market & investment perspectives, partnering with global investment teams, as well as distribution and marketing partners to leverage these differentiated insights to help build brand awareness, support sales engagement, and build credibility as a trustworthy partner on the factors driving markets and portfolios.
**You will have an opportunity to:**
+ Support the growth of the Principal AM Global Insights program, collaborating closely with other Global Market Strategists, as well as the investment and distribution organizations, to cultivate and create high conviction thought leadership.
+ Participate in global macro strategy research on economic and financial market developments.
+ Create thoughtful and timely written economic, macro and secular research and investment strategy content across public and private markets.
+ Conduct detailed discussions with institutional and retail clients, prospects, and consultants to communicate Principal Asset Management's differentiated investment viewpoints.
+ Work closely with the various investment teams to understand their specific investment views in relation to the broader Global Insights perspectives.
+ Proactively build and nurture relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure a constant flow of ideas and perspectives.
We are open to a remote location but candidates based Des Moines, IA is highly preferred.

**Who You Are**
+ Master's degree or equivalent, preferably in economics, finance or related
+ 8+ years of relevant investment industry experience, including deep understanding and experience in investment management, macroeconomics, and global markets
+ 3+ years of strategist experience in a similar economic or investment research capacity, including macro strategy, equities, or fixed income at a financial institution
+ Experience working with the diverse needs of investors across different channels and geographies
+ Strong analytical skills. Applying quantitative methods and techniques in the analysis of economic and financial data
+ Outstanding presentation and written skills. Experience creating engaging, original investment strategy content
+ Strong verbal communication abilities, demonstrated by the capacity to optimally interact with CIOs and senior executives
+ Proficiency with Bloomberg and any additional statistical programs or other commonly used data sources

**Salary Range Information**
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
**Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)**
$123000 - $167000 / year
**Time Off Program**
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role offers in-office, hybrid, and remote work arrangements. You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors. In-office and hybrid locations include New York City, Seattle, Des Moines, Chicago, and Charlotte. We are open to remote work but candidates who office out of Des Moines would be highly preferred.
