Position Overview

DAI implements USAID-funded projects around the world, including in high-risk countries and regions that may be subject to government sanctions. To ensure compliance with OFAC general licenses to operate in a sanctioned country, DAI utilizes a range of internal compliance and risk mitigation measures for programs operating in these locations. Among these measures are screening requirements to mitigate against diversion of funds. DAI’s screening regime requires use of the Descartes Visual Compliance (DVC) tool for all standard hiring, contracting, and payment actions. As an added safeguard, DAI also uses the Refinitiv World Check tool to screen high-risk individuals and vendors for negative media results. 

 

The Senior Associate, Screening Support will spend the majority of their time supporting the screening process by running Refinitiv World Check screenings for all project requested items (e.g., entities, key individuals, beneficiaries, designated payees, new hires/personnel, and more) following established protocols for reviewing, interpreting, and analyzing results to make pass/fail decisions. The Associate will be responsible for the development and maintenance of a range of trackers and check lists, and other documents related to the screening process. They will also support DAI’s ongoing SIV/P-2 employment verification process for former and current locally hired staff in Afghanistan. They may also have opportunities to support ongoing project management across DAI’s portfolio of USAID funded projects.

 

Important to know about this role: The incumbent will be responsible for handling and maintaining the confidentiality of highly sensitive data. They may be exposed to graphic or disturbing images and writings as part of the screening process.

 

This is a full-time permanent position, that requires the ability to travel domestically within in the United States and internationally. This position requires the ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.

 

Staff in jobs at level P3 must be located in the DC Metro Area and are expected to work from DAI’s Bethesda, MD office at least 3 days per week.

 

Responsibilities Screenings

·       Communicate with project teams to collect all required documentation to facilitate screening for Refinitiv World Check.

·       Review screening materials/request type to determine and confirm required screening for proposed action.

·       Run and investigate Refinitiv World Check screenings, following established protocols for making decisions pass/fail decisions. Escalate requests for additional review as needed.

·       Log screening results in the consolidated screening tracker. 

·       Create and update training documents and videos.

·       Providing training to project field teams on screening requirements, including traveling to the field to deliver training, as required. 

·       Troubleshoot screening issues with project field teams, as required. 

·       Building and maintenance of various screening trackers, including filing systems for screening results.

 

Other Support

·       Support the SIV/P-2 employment verification process. This includes:

o   Reviewing requests submitted by current and former DAI staff and logging them in relevant trackers.

o   Corresponding with visa applicants about their requests.

o   Conducting desk research to verify employment information provided by requestors

o   Drafting employment verification letters for review and signature.

o   Reviewing requests from the U.S. government to verify information provided by visa applicants claiming to have been employed by DAI.

o   Escalating any instances of suspected document fraud for additional review.

·       Learn project management associate tasks to provide back-up or surge support to project management teams throughout the project lifecycle from start-up to close-down.

 

Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Qualifications & Skills Minimum Requirements:

·       Grade P3: More than 1 year of professional experience and a college degree. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

·       Self-directed with strong organizational skills.

·       Able to take initiative and prioritize multiple tasks/competing deadlines simultaneously.

·       Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

·       Able to adjust to changes in demands, new situations and/or approaches.

·       Professional proficiency in MS Office suite.

·       Professional working proficiency or fluency in a language other than English. Preferred languages are: Spanish, French, Russian, Ukrainian, or Arabic.

·       Able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization and external clients from diverse backgrounds.

·       Able and willing to travel to any country where DAI currently operates, or may wish to operate, barring times when DAI Global Security has deemed travel unsafe.

·       Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

 

Preferred, but not required:

·       Prior experience utilizing SharePoint lists, PowerBi, PowerApps and similar data management tools.

Compensation & Benefits:

For employees working the United States, the full-time equivalent annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $63,704 to $69,325. Salary for part-time employees will be prorated based on actual hours worked. Actual offers will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant education, experience, skills, seniority, performance, and business or organizational needs.

 

Eligible U.S. based employees, will be able to enroll in medical, dental and vision insurance, plus a 401(k)-retirement plan with a company match. Additionally, employees will be eligible for company-paid annual leave (vacation & holidays), sick leave, parental leave; as well as short- and long-term disability coverage. Detailed information will be provided at the time a formal offer is extended.
