As the Senior Associate, State and Local Tax you will support our global tax function. This position requires a highly motivated individual with a strong indirect tax background. The individual will support various departments throughout the organization, external consultants, and tax auditors. The Senior Associate will assist the tax department in all tax functions as needed, primarily state and local indirect and direct tax compliance.
Location: Role is mostly remote but must live near CT or MA for meetings in office.
Responsibilities
Prepare and assist in the review of Sales & Use, Excise and Personal Property Tax Returns, Business Licenses, and coordinate payments ensuring accuracy and managing deadlinesPreparation of state tax estimates and extensionsMaintain corporate compliance calendarRespond to inquiries from state tax authorities.Validate customer exemption certificates and issue certificates to vendorsServe as a principal contact for Indirect Tax inquiriesPrepare and review state tax refund requestsPrepare state income tax apportionment workpapers.Research taxability of customers and productsAssist with other non-recurring domestic compliance or planning projects as they ariseBasic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or related)3+ years of corporate tax experience in public accounting and/or industryMust have knowledge/experience with: Business License Tax, Sales Tax Multistate Exemption CertificatesStrong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPointExcellent interpersonal, communicative, and organizational skills and attention to detailTeam playerSelf-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independentlyPreferred Qualifications:
Certified Public Accountant is a plus.Experience with SAP and SOVOSCanadian HST, PST, QST is desired.The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $87k to $130k . The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
