The position is located in the Lead Identification department, within the Large Molecule Research unit of pRED, which is responsible for the generation, identification and optimization of fit-for-purpose protein therapeutics. We closely collaborate with therapeutic areas and other global functions to discover next generation biotherapeutics.
Job mission
We are offering an outstanding opportunity for an experienced (Senior) Associate to work with a highly engaged team of molecular biology, biochemistry, and display technologies specialists using an outstanding variety of state-of-the art technologies. You will be responsible for the in vitro discovery, characterization and engineering of antibody-based therapeutic molecules , as well as methods optimization and implementation.
Your impact
Your main focus will be the discovery and optimization of therapeutic proteins
This will include the cloning of antibody libraries, manual and automated ribosomal, phage or yeast display selections and high throughput screening
Promising candidates will be expressed, purified and characterized by a variety of methods with a particular focus on Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR)
This will be followed by optimization using directed evolution and data-driven protein engineering
Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with multiple internal and external partners.

Your experience in drug discovery, in vitro display methods as well as state of the art biochemistry enables you to support our technology and portfolio projects.
You have a keen interest in protein engineering and display technologies as well as in working with IT systems and (semi)-automated platforms.
For this position you hold a Bachelor- or Master's degree (FH) with relevant initial professional experience or an equivalent education with several years of professional experience.
You are resourceful and flexible in problem solving and in working in a collaborative and inclusive manner with strong oral and written communication skills.
This position is fix-termed to 2 years.
