Join PwC New Zealand's Indirect Tax team in our Financial Advisory Services division, based in the vibrant city of Pōneke / Wellington. We are seeking a Tax Specialist at the Senior Associate level to enhance our dynamic team. Our centrally located office offers stunning harbour views and is close to excellent dining options and a vibrant arts scene. You'll have the opportunity to participate in a variety of corporate, wellness, and social events aimed at fostering professional development and personal well-being.
Our team provides employment tax and GST advisory services for clients in the corporate, private business and public sector (including central government agencies, local authorities, universities), and charities /not-for-profit organisations. In this role, you'll collaborate with a team dedicated to delivering expert tax advice and solutions. Your key responsibilities will include:
Working directly with interesting clients to deliver tailored tax solutions.
Undertaking compliance evaluations to provide clients with trust and confidence in the tax positions they are taking.
Mentoring junior staff to support their professional growth and development.
Crafting strategies to optimise clients' indirect tax positions.
Provide insights and recommendations to inform client decisions.
Liaising with Inland Revenue to resolve complex tax matters.
Ngā pūkenga kei a koe / Skills and experience
Tax Expertise: A minimum of 3 years of experience in NZ Employment Tax, GST, or Corporate Tax.
Client Engagement: Proven experience in client-facing roles with the ability to lead and influence effectively.
Willingness to Travel: Flexibility to travel nationally as required.
Professional Services Experience: Ideally, you have worked in a professional services environment, however this is not essential.
Educational Background: A degree in Accounting, Law, Taxation or a related field is preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in tools such as Power BI or Alteryx is preferred, coupled with strong report writing skills.
