Senior Associate - Legal


Job Description

Chegg is seeking a qualified law professional with 5-7 years of experience to join its legal team in India. This person will support the Human Resources organization in India, as well as work with the Chegg India Legal Counsel on day-to-day legal operations, including assisting with corporate compliance, drafting vendor contracts, and working closely with Legal, Human Resources, Finance, Engineering, and other business teams.  This role will report to the Assistant General Counsel, Labor, Employment & Litigation in the U.S., with a dotted line to the Senior Legal Counsel in India.

Location: Delhi, India. 

Essential Job Functions:

Work closely with HR and provide pragmatic advice on a broad array of employment-related matters, including hiring, diversity and inclusion, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence, compensation, benefits, and terminationsReview and revise employment policies and practices on a regular basis, and provide recommendations on complianceAssist and advise on internal investigations conducted by Human Resources Organize and create training materials for internal clients as they relate to legal processes and proceduresIndependently manage pre-litigation claims and agency charges and litigation, sometimes with the assistance of external counselBe a proactive member of the legal team assisting in the timely intake and response to internal client requests, distribution and collection of contract documents and project support documents for review by the Operations and Corporate Attorney and other members of the Legal DepartmentInterpret and apply contracting principles, applicable laws, regulations, policies, and proceduresPrepare, compile and conduct initial review of contract documents and proposed amendments; make modifications or redlines to various department contracts, including but not limited to, IT contracts, consulting agreements, vendor contracts, supplier contracts, partner agreements, and real estate leasesTrack and maintain company contracts, including but not limited to HR/recruitment agreements, real estate leases, non-disclosure agreements, and IT/technology agreementsUpdating and maintenance of legal dockets, logs, and spreadsheetsOrganize and prepare various legal reportsCommunicate effectively both orally and in writingDeliver excellent customer service to internal and external clientsEstablish and maintain effective relationships in the course of workOther duties as may be assigned from time to time

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's in law degree requiredEmployment Law background and experience preferred, or Company Secretary experienceExperience working for a U.S. headquartered/MNC Company is preferredExcellent communication and written skillsGood business acumen, judgment, and discretionWord, Excel and Adobe Acrobat Experience required
