Senior Associate Scientist, Tumor Immunity--non PhD

POSITION SUMMARY

Our Tumor Biology group develops biologic therapeutics that promote immune cell engagement with tumor cells in effort to eliminate cancer.  As a member of this group, you will support these efforts and be a critical player in the group’s mission by executing wet lab assays that will be used for proof-of-concept testing and lead molecule development.  Your work will primarily focus on supporting biology line initiatives and will also involve collaborating with other functional lines in a matrix team environment. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Execute cell-based functional and biochemical assays to select candidate molecules for clinical development

Plan and execute ex vivo mouse tissue assays, such as multi-color flow cytometry, gene expression analyses, and mammalian cell culture

Analyze, organize, and present results in small and large group meetings

Read relevant scientific literature to aid in experimental design

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

B.S. degree in Biology or related discipline

3+ years’ of industry experience in immunology, cell biology and/or tumor biology

Experience planning and executing in vitro and/or in vivo/ex vivo experiments with some supervision

Experience with standard immunologic techniques including flow cytometry (8+ parameters)

Experience with cancer cell line culture

Strong verbal and written communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

M.S. degree in Biology or related discipline

Technical experience with immune cell-based functional assays including human/mouse T cell activation, proliferation, and cytotoxicity assays using T cell engagers

Experience independently phenotyping human and mouse tumor associated T cells from primary human/mouse tumor samples using flow cytometry and conducting related analyses

Experience with molecular techniques including ELISA, qRT-PCR, MSD, and CRISPR-CAS9 gene editing 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in a BSL-2 laboratory

• Standard business office conditions; sitting, standing as appropriate

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Lifting, sitting, standing, walking, bending, repetitive pipetting, ability to perform mathematical calculations, ability to read, understand, and perform written protocols, and ability to perform moderately complex data analysis using Microsoft Excel, GraphPad Prism or other similar data analysis software.

• Routine off-hour and weekend schedule

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $64,600.00 to $107,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
