Senior Associate Scientist

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Downstream Process Development group in Bioprocess R&D is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist contractor to support development and optimization of recovery and purification processes for recombinant proteins and biological macromolecules for early- and late-phase clinical trials. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to designing and executing bench-scale development and characterization studies with proper documentation, analyzing and interpreting results, and authoring technical reports. This position interacts and collaborates with fellow scientists within Downstream PD and across Pharmaceutical Sciences.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Design and execute bench-scale chromatography and filtration development and characterization studies
+ Support process development for new molecules from platform process fit assessment through IND submissions
+ Transfer manufacturing processes to internal and/or external manufacturing facilities
+ Author technical reports and make presentations to scientists and management
+ Work with fellow Bioprocess, Analytical and Pharmaceutical R&D scientists across multiple sites
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
+ Minimum Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience or Masters degree with 0-2 years of relevant experience
+ Relevant experience in laboratory or manufacturing setting, preferably with preparative or analytical chromatography, filtration and other techniques
+ Experience using AKTA and Unicorn software
+ Experience with experimental design and interpretation of results
+ Work is primarily performed at the laboratory bench and at an office desk using a computer.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00
