Description:
The Associate Scientist processes clinical samples and conducts validation/verification studies of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)-based molecular assays within specific turnaround times.
Qualifications:
•\t3+ years of experience in molecular diagnostics and/or high throughput clinical laboratories.
•\tExperience working with typical oncology specimens, including Formalin-fixed Paraffinembedded (FFPE) tissue samples and blood in clinical and/or high-volume molecular diagnostics settings.
•\tDemonstrated understanding of molecular biology techniques and best troubleshooting principles.
•\tExperience with clinical oncology NGS assays, including DNA and RNA-seq (TSO500, MSK, etc..), WES protocols, and various target-enrichment approaches.
•\tExperience working in CAP/CLIA regulatory environments, WA state requirements, and HIPAA regulations, with an understanding of the importance of patient data privacy.
•\tPreferred qualifications:
o\tExperience with Clarity LIMS/LabVantage software.
o\tTechnologist in Molecular Biology, MB(ASCP).
Key Responsibilities:
•\tServe as a technical contributor for the Molecular/NGS laboratory and perform clinical NGS assays with precision.
•\tPrepare and isolate nucleic acids from oncology specimens, such as DNA/RNA extraction from FFPE tissues, blood samples.
•\tOperate complex laboratory equipment, such as high throughput liquid handlers and Illumina sequencers (NovaSeq6000) and perform instrument maintenance procedures.
•\tReview and troubleshoot NGS sequencing runs.
•\tEvaluate and implement new NGS technologies.
•\tDemonstrate and execute excellent laboratory best practices and troubleshooting principles.
•\tSupport the timely processing and reporting of oncology samples to internal and external collaborators.
•\tPay attention to detail and precisely follow instrument and assay SOPs.
•\tMaintain detailed notes of experimental parameters with proper documentation.
•\tIndependently perform lab procedures with minimal supervision.
•\tPrepare reports and presentations to communicate results in group meetings.
•\tSupport FDA, NYS DOH, CAP/CLIA, and other regulatory agency inspections.
•\tProvide support and contribute to QC and QA activities as needed.
•\tParticipate in training sessions and workshops.
•\tCollaborate with MDs and Molecular Pathologists.
•\tPerform other duties as assigned.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
