Location Information: Regional Counsel shares coverage of the South Region (including Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Lee, and Collier counties).

Starting Salary: $2,403.85 Bi-Weekly

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Advocate for the Department in delinquency court when needed.

Provide legal advice and training to Department personnel pertaining to delinquency issues.

Responsible for initiating litigation of Child in Need of Services (CINS) cases and representing the Department in CINS hearings.

Provide legal oversight of pre-litigation Family in Need of Services (FINS) cases as needed.

Liaison with Circuit Courts and stakeholders.

Analyze statutes, rules, and federal regulations.

Complete legislative bill analysis as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Juris Doctorate (JD) is required.

Membership in the Florida Bar in good standing. 

Minimum of 2 years of experience as practicing attorney.

Able to travel to counties within South Florida region for court hearings and training purposes as needed.

This position is advertised as an anticipated vacancy. Training will be provided.   Prior juvenile law experience is not necessary.
