Job Summary:
BDO is seeking an experienced consultant to support Environmental and Disposal Liabilities (E&DL) Audit Readiness efforts for a Department of Defense client. The Senior Consultant, Public Sector will be responsible for the execution of Quality Control (QC) Review of Cost-to-Complete (CTC) E&DL estimates, to ensure auditability of estimating methodologies in accordance with applicable guidance. The execution of supplemental tasks supporting the client’s audit readiness initiatives will be expected.
Job Duties:
Completes tasks in the areas of audit response and remediation, financial management, business process improvement, internal control management, and system of record relating to Environmental and Disposal Liabilities (E&DL) audit readiness initiatives Provides Notice of Finding and Recommendation (NFR) response and the development and implementation of Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) to remediate issues for identified deficiencies related to the documentation of a completeness methodology relative to the population of active and closed sites Assists the client with the annual Quality Control (QC) review of Cost-to-Complete (CTC) E&DL estimates across Army installations. This includes reviewing the auditability of estimating methodologies used to produce an audit ready CTC package Demonstrates an ability to thoroughly assess, interpret, and communicate key E&DL supporting documentation to project leadership and client personnel Documentation may include, but not limited to, executed contracts, Military Interdepartmental Purchase Requisitions (MIPR), and engineering estimates Applies a fundamental understanding of accounting and audit principles to concepts, processes, practices, and procedures of E&DL Demonstrates an ability to interpret and appropriately communicate and discuss disseminated E&DL guidance with client personnel Contributes to the development of deliverables, reporting performance metrics, presentations, and trainings where applicable Updates relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and associated templates as appropriate Performs document reconciliation activities to identify deficiencies contributing to audit impediments Delivers a full range of services that uses their educational background, experience, and organizational skills while serving BDO’s dynamic public sector client base Supports task areas while coordinating closely with engagement team management and client leadership on strategy, planning, execution, status, and review processes Drives problem solving and fact finding, while working side by side with experienced team members, management, and client leadership Supports clients with key financial and budgetary, information technology, and operational transformation initiatives Adapts to a changing client environment while meeting client expectations Manages priorities and works effectively to initiate correspondence and task completion; supports multiple efforts through flexible multi-task coordination Provides summary recommendations to team leadership regarding assigned work stream Applies fundamental industry knowledge and standards to support client reviews, improvements, and/or implementations Communicates and maintains relationships with key client personnel to ensure shared understanding of processes, operations, and functions Communicates with team management through effective status reporting and demonstrates ownership and accountability for assigned task areas and work products Establishes professional rapport with clients and other organizations Supports and reviews work products for technical accuracy, deliverable quality, and overall value to the client Attends relevant training, seminars, and/or conferences to stay current with technical skills that align with client’s needs and changes in the industry Supports recruiting efforts by identifying potential candidates and participating in interviews Researches industry and market trends and develops relevant presentations and materials in support of potential firm initiatives Other duties as requiredSupervisory Responsibilities:

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree, required; focus in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Logistics, or Business Management, preferred Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Logistics, or Business Management, preferredExperience:
Four (4) or more years of financial management, accounting, business, or operations experience, required Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) audit readiness, required Professional services experience and/or experience supporting Public Sector clients, preferred Operational understanding/experience with E&DL, preferred Experience with DoD financial statement audit, internal control testing or analysis, and coordinating with external auditors, preferred Knowledge of Army financial management policies, systems, and procedures, preferredLicense(s)/Certification(s):
Ability to obtain and maintain government agency suitability or security clearance, required Relevant industry certification, such as CPA, CISA, CIA, PMP, CGFM, or CDFM, preferredSoftware:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word), required Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suites (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word), preferred Working knowledge of SAP based platforms, preferred.Language(s):

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
National Range: $90,000 - $125,000
Maryland Range: $90,000 - $125,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $90,000 - $125,000
