Senior Auditor
Job Description: The Senior Auditor position supports the Chief Audit Executive and the Director of Internal Audit with the execution of the university’s Internal Audit function within the Office of Audit, Risk, and Compliance. This consists of identifying internal control strengths and weaknesses, verifying compliance with financial and operational processes and procedures and regulatory requirements. Position also requires the ability to provide written recommendations to improve operating efficiencies to university administration and provide other consulting and advisory services as requested. The Senior Auditor performs audit and advisory services in conformance with the Global Internal Audit Standards. The Senior Auditor is responsible for conducting all phases of an internal audit under the direction of the Director of Internal Audit. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: Planning: + Conduct research and applying knowledge of auditing standards, analysis technique and applicable laws, regulations, and university policies during audit planning. Responsible for the preparation of all required planning documents. + Design an audit program based on client interviews and risk assessment Fieldwork: + Conduct interviews and walkthroughs with personnel at varying levels of management + Develop and execute audit techniques such as identifying and analyzing data, documenting process narratives, testing internal controls, etc. + Prepare and review audit workpapers for accuracy, clarity, and validity of conclusions Reporting: + Recommend solutions and facilitate the development of management action plans + Prepare written draft audit reports that summarize observations and recommendations Continuous Monitoring – Sharing the responsibility with other auditors in the department based on availability of resources, perform monthly or other periodic monitoring activities. Activities will include performing data analytics and auditing expense transactions, reviewing documentation, verifying compliance with University policy, and documenting work performed for management’s review. Other continuous monitoring activities may include cash handling, quarterly tax reporting, IT, compliance, or other identified risks. Special Projects – Perform other tasks as needed related to special projects or internal initiatives identified by the Chief Audit Executive, Audit Manager, or requested by university management. Fiscal Responsibilities - The Senior Auditor, while not directly responsible for the OARC budget, plays a crucial role in reviewing the University’s assets and structure, evaluating their value through the annual audit plan, and overseeing budgeting and internal purchasing to ensure compliance. *This position may supervise student employees. Minimum Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field. + At least 3 years of related experience. *Due to consideration for Global Internal Audit Standards, employee will be required to obtain CIA credential within one year of hire date. Preferred Qualifications: + Master’s degree + Certification strongly desired.
