Apple Sports is looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to help redefine how users experience sports through the Apple Sports app, Apple TV, and more. As part of the Sports team, you’ll collaborate with world-class engineers to create reliable, scalable solutions for processing and displaying real-time sports data. This is a unique opportunity to shape the sports experience for millions of users worldwide. **Description** In this role, you will: Design, develop, and maintain highly available real-time data services. Improve the performance and reliability of backend systems, employing industry best practices in distributed systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute the technical roadmap and deliver high-impact features. Provide technical direction and mentorship to team members. **Minimum Qualifications** + 5+ years of experience building scalable distributed systems. + Proficiency in Java with expertise in Object-Oriented and Functional programming. + Strong knowledge of concurrency control, data structures, and algorithms. + Experience with databases such as Cassandra and Redis, and stream processing platforms like Kafka. + Familiarity with stream processing frameworks and best practices. + Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience. **Key Qualifications** **Preferred Qualifications** + Working knowledge of GraphQL. + Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud environments. + Passion for sports and understanding of the sports data ecosystem. + Self-motivated with strong collaboration and communication skills. + Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment. **Education & Experience** **Additional Requirements** **Pay & Benefits** + At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
