Senior Business Development Manager - Data Centers
We are looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to join our dynamic, fast-paced Sales team for Energy business. The preferred location for this position is Houston, TX or anywhere throughout the domestic U.S. or Canada.
What will you be doing
As a Senior Business Development Manager, you will proactively develop a pipeline of sales opportunities relevant to Projects to be sold with associated Long Term Service Agreements and develop/maintain customer relationships with the objective of securing new business or power plant extensions.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business, with five or more years of experience in major Project and/or Long Term Service Agreement sales, including a demonstrated success winning contracts greater than $5 million. Specific Data Center experience or Power Generation industry experience is a must.
Written and spoken fluency in English required.
Key Accountabilities & Attributes:
• Direct customer interaction with responsibility to develop Project and Agreement opportunities for North America
• Proactively develop a pipeline of sales opportunities relevant to Projects & Agreements
• Responsible for leading face to face proposal presentations and negotiations with customers to secure contracts
• Work collaboratively and proactively with both Finland based Project & Agreements leadership and support staff as well as local teams to ensure the maximum leverage of Wartsila strengths, relationships and resources
• Previous experience and an understanding of the systematic approach to assessing and developing project sales in all aspects, including a demonstrated ability to identify and understand the customer's buying & funding cycle in order to prioritize opportunities in the Data Center vertical
• Have the ability to know when, who and how to influence Project & Agreements and personnel in Wartsila
• A comprehensive understanding of the North American Data Center market
• Follows established sales and proposal processes
• A multi-year track record of major project &/or Agreement sales success (including greater than $5 million USD per agreement or project)
Main Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain customer relationships with the objective of securing new business.
• Work closely with our Project & Agreements groups, Account Managers and Energy BDMs to develop information necessary for market assessment and proposal creation.
• Respond to customer requests for final and preliminary pricing, technical and performance information.
• Contract negotiations.
• Customer presentations and on-site meetings.
• Participation in trade shows.
• Ensure a comprehensive handover of all commercial and technical aspects of the project at the time of contract
Personal and Technical Development Responsibilities:
• Power plant upgrade technical product knowledge
• Energy Storage upgrade technical knowledge
• Data Center and AI Data Center market knowledge are KEY ASSETS
