Senior Benefits Analyst

The Benefits Analyst will assist in the analysis and administration of the employee health benefit plans and programs. This position will support the planning, design, implementation, administration and evaluation of the health care plans, programs and related services. Posted position does not allow for sponsorship or relocation assistance.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and evaluation of health benefit plans, programs and related services to determine areas of opportunity or risk.

• Research and prepare analyses of coverage, services, policies and procedures and recommend changes where appropriate.

• Use data to monitor participation, utilization rates and trends on a regular basis. Identify problem areas in service delivery processes, troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions.

• Ensure the timely completion and submission of required governmental and organizational reports. Implement and test benefit plan changes and new programs.

• Assist in the development of Request for Proposals and the evaluation of the RFP responses.

• Assist in the development of vendor performance metrics, evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.

• Create, maintain, and update documentation of process flows, administrative and standard operating procedures.

• Create and review employee benefit communication materials.

• Work with internal groups and vendors to support system testing, data interfaces in/out of the system, development of test plans, and the execution of plan changes and reporting.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 4-8 years of experience in benefits program management; benefit administration including vendor relationships and process and procedure development

• Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Plans, organizes schedules in an efficient and productive manner
• Effective influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills to interact with both internal and external contacts
• Highly effective written and oral communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong MS Office - PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills. MS Project experience desired.

Working & Environmental Conditions

Temperature controlled working environment. Some outside activities may be required. This position may travel out-of-town to attend training and meetings. Typical office environment: may experience minor discomfort from extensive use of a computer display and keyboard; travel between buildings on campus and between campuses.

Physical Requirements

Maintaining body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs. Sitting, standing and walking for long periods of time. Typing, punching or applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
