Job DescriptionReporting to the Senior Benefits Manager, the Senior Benefits Specialist will assist the team with administration and project work in support of our employee benefit programs. They will be primarily responsible for managing Guardant Health’s leave of absence processes and coordinating workplace accommodations, ensuring that both comply with legal requirements and company policies.
The ideal candidate will leverage their experience and leave management expertise in sharing best practices with our team. You will support the redesign/enhancement of current processes and communications, as well as provide education directly to our employees and People Team leaders about leaves and accommodations, ensuring a straightforward, easy to understand experience for all in their time of need.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Track leave utilization, ensuring accurate recordkeeping and compliance with company policies. Work directly with and manage our external leave administration vendor to ensure employees are provided with accurate advice regarding their entitlements and that the company is provided with timely updates regarding an employee’s status. Review all workplace accommodation submissions from employees. Facilitate the interactive process for the company and seek support from employment counsel to help navigate any complex cases. Partner cross-functionally with internal teams such as Benefits, HRIS and Payroll on bi-weekly payroll processing, reconciliations, audits, and other ad hoc projects. Provide weekly tracking updates to People Team leadership and respond to all leave or accommodation related inquiries from management and employees. Assist with the redesign of current business processes related to leaves and accommodations; evaluate company-specific data insights, market trends and best practices in support of these changes/improvements. Develop communications/training regarding the company's leave programs to educate employees and management on an ongoing basis. Monitor regulatory changes and ensure compliance with local/federal requirements. Provide additional support for other benefit initiatives and special projects, as time permits. QualificationsBachelor's Degree or equivalent and 5+ years related benefits and/or absence management experience; global experience is a plus Strong knowledge of U.S. state and federal laws pertaining to protected leaves and accommodations; awareness of global best practices is a plus Excellent customer service and process improvement orientation; ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion and good judgment. Excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills; strong written/verbal communication skills. Experience with PowerPoint, Canva, ADP, and Workday is highly desired. Additional InformationFor positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the base salary range for this full-time position is $106,200 to $143,370. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity.
Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. If you are selected to move forward, the recruiting team will provide details specific to the factors above.
Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
