Reporting to the Manager-Patient Billing and Credentialing in the School of Podiatric Medicine (TUSPM), the Senior Billing Representative completes the following tasks in an accurate and timely manner relative to the provision of healthcare services in the Foot and Ankle Institute, Ambulatory Surgical Center, Temple Total Therapy and associated satellite practices\: records clinical procedures, product sales and performance measures, processes claims for reimbursement to patients and/or appropriate third party insurers, records payments and adjustments to patients accounts and pursues unpaid or underpaid claims in compliance with policies and procedures established by federal and state government regulatory agencies, third party payers, TUSPM and the Temple University Health System’s Office of Compliance. Addresses face-to-face and telephone inquiries relative to billing, collection and compliance in a timely, courteous manner, reviews and updates patients’ demographic and insurance information in TUSPM’s patient management system, prepares and files ad hoc reports and scans documents, as required.
Required Education & Experience\:
High school diploma required, basic knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance billing regulations, medical terminology and at least 1 year of high-volume healthcare billing/collection experience required; Associates degree and/or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) designation by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and podiatric medical billing experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities\:
*Must be organized, detail oriented and able to complete tasks in a timely manner.
*Must have a customer service orientation and the ability to interact with professionalism and tact under stress.
*Must be proficient with applications such as Microsoft Office, various practice management/EHR solutions and be able to adapt to new technology.
