Senior Brokerage Sourcing Specialist

Position Summary:
The Senior Brokerage Sourcing Specialist will leverage their deep understanding of the freight market to develop pricing strategies and provide impactful recommendations to optimize our brokerage operations.  They will support Penske Operations on any Request for Quote (RFQ)/Request for Proposal (RFP) responses and growth opportunities.  The position will obtain rates using data analysis, market/industry expertise and internal & external systems and tools to support high profitability.  This position will also work with Penske Brokerage Operations and New Business Development (Sales) to support resolution of any pricing issues that may arise.

Monday – Friday 
7:30am – 4:30pm

Major Responsibilities:

Strategize with Penske brokerage operations and management team to provide solutions for current and prospective customers. Analyze market trends, current and historical lane data, and consider seasonal volatility to develop competitive pricing strategies in specific geographical areas/markets. Provide strategic recommendations to leadership based on market analysis and pricing trends. Develop understanding of core carrier capabilities and match them with customer needs. Collaborate closely with Carrier Sales, Customer Sales, and Account Management teams to ensure pricing aligns with company goals and customer expectations. Continuously monitor and adjust pricing strategies in response to market changes. Prepare and present RFQs, RFPs, pricing reports and analyses to stakeholders.  Provide impactful recommendations to internal teams that ensure growth and maximum profitability. Identify services and pricing that meet both Penske and customer business objectives. Use discretion and independent judgment when compiling rates and working with operations and sales requests. Determine when carrier pricing is shifting or needs re-negotiated and reviewed based on load or lane level analysis. Support development of analytics and assist with presenting key trends during customer Quarterly Business Review (QBR) Serve as a resource for immediate team and cross-functional teams, promoting continuous learning and development, knowledge sharing and cross-functional cooperation. Take initiative in identifying opportunities for process improvements and lead efforts to implement changes. Act as a role model by demonstrating strong leadership qualities and setting high standards for performance and professionalism.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's Degree preferred. Minimum 5+ years of transportation and logistics experience with a focus on negotiating rates and service levels. Minimum 2+ years of pricing and/or carrier sales experience with a transaction-oriented brokerage.  Inside sales or customer service experience in a business-to-business environment.  Successful track record of building relationships with stakeholders or customers that have resulted in high customer satisfaction. Knowledge of US traffic lanes, equipment types and various modes (air, ocean, truck, trailer, TL, LTL) preferred. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and market trends. In-depth understanding of the freight market and its seasonal volatility. Excellent negotiation skills and ability to strategize effectively. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to facilitate cross-functional collaboration. Prior experience with Mercury Gate and RMIS preferred but not required. Must be skilled in the operation of MS Office software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Must be able to work with other departments to increase overall productivity for the company. Ability to manage multiple projects with a sense of urgency while maintaining a high degree of accuracy required.  Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of enthusiasm, professionalism, and motivation. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job. Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location as required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
