What this job involves –

Main location is Fort Lauderdale, FL (must also have ability to travel to West Palm Beach and Miami).

The Senior Building Engineer provides direct support to our client’s sites in S FL with the main location in Ft. Lauderdale, which is an owned commercial property for our client.


The Senior Building Engineer will be responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of the building's mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, superb problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage the maintenance mechanic and contractors. This position requires a proactive approach to preventive maintenance and the capacity to respond promptly to emergency situations.

Your day to day:

Maintenance

Manage and perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, installed systems, equipment and components, parking and exterior grounds.Monitor building automation systems (BAS) to ensure efficient building operations.Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance mechanic and outside contractors.Maintain up-to-date records of maintenance activities and building operations.Respond to tenant service requests and address issues promptly and effectively.Oversee energy management and sustainability initiatives to improve building efficiency.Perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on as found conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy and operations.General maintenance – painting, hang doors, repairs to office furniture systems and doors.Develop and implement long-term maintenance strategies that align with the organization’s goals, focusing on sustainability and optimal performance.

Safety

Complete Hazard Assessments as necessary.Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas. Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.Maintain compliance to State, County, or City Ordinances, Codes, or Laws.Must complete all required safety trainings as scheduledComplies with all policies for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials.

Administrative

Manage and mentor maintenance mechanicUse data analytics tools to monitor building performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve system reliability and efficiency.Alongside the Facilities Manager, implement standard operating procedures and emergency preparedness plans using JLL standards.Assist Facilities Manager in the preparation of the annual maintenance budget and manage expenditures within approved limits.Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.Input and manage work order tickets in real time to client portal.Utilize JLL CMO system for emergency reporting.Escalating problems or issues to Facilities Manager and Senior Facilities ManagerWorking knowledge of Microsoft products (Teams, Outlook, excel, etc.)Attend work and safety meetings as required

Other

Participate in the planning and execution of capital improvement projects.Stay updated with the latest advancements in building systems, technology, and integrate these innovations to enhance building performance and efficiency.Assist with miscellaneous duties and tasks assigned to help the office and building.Being self-motivated and having initiative. Ability to prioritize tasks.Ability to work overtime when needed and to travel to West Palm Beach and Miami offices as needed. Mileage reimbursement available.
