The Senior Reporting Analyst, reporting to the Director of Analytics, is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to support business operations and decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, excellent attention to detail, and proficiency in reporting software and technology. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to deliver accurate and insightful reports that drive business decisions.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop and Maintain Reports: Create, maintain, and enhance reports and dashboards using advanced reporting tools and technologies.
· Collaboration: Work closely with members of Nelnet Financial Services, Nelnet Bank, and other departments to gather requirements, understand business needs, and deliver effective reporting solutions.
· Automation: Implement automation solutions to streamline reporting processes and improve efficiency.
· Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data by reconciling to alternate data sources when possible and assisting in efforts to clean up data when needed.
· Technical Expertise: Utilize SQL, Power BI, Excel, and other analytical tools to extract, manipulate, and visualize data.
· Project Management: Lead and participate in projects related to reporting enhancements, system upgrades, and process improvements.
· Training and Support: Provide training and support to team members and stakeholders on reporting tools and best practices.
· Data Analysis: Perform detailed data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support strategic decision-making.
· Forecasting: Utilize historical data, both internally generated and from industry peers, to derive future performance assumptions.
· Strategic Insights: Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support business goals and initiatives.
· Data Governance: Participate in data governance initiatives to ensure data quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
**Pay Range for this position is - $115,000 - $145,000
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, information management, business administration, accounting, finance, economics or related field is preferred, but applicable experience will also be considered.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial reporting, data analysis, or a related role within the financial services industry.
· Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
· Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, Excel, and other data analysis and visualization tools.
· Hands-on experience working with Snowflake data warehouses.
· Proven project management skills and experience leading BI projects.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively explain complex concepts.
· Ability to work independently or collaborate effectively as part of a group.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
· Experience with consumer or private student loans.
· Advanced Excel skills, including the use of advanced functions and VBA.
· Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R.
· Familiarity with forward-looking models and assumptions.
· Skilled in performing regression analysis for credit loss estimation.
· Exposure to data governance practices and ensuring data quality.
· Master’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent experience in a financial services role.
· Familiarity with DV01 or Intex.
· Understanding of the Current Expected Credit Loss (CECL) accounting standard and associated methodologies for estimating credit losses.
