Job Overview

The Purchasing Senior Buyer will be responsible for procurement items/product for Wind Creek Chicago Southland and delivery to the appropriate department. This position works closely with the purchasing manager and purchasing director on procurement initiatives. He/she also works closely with the department heads to control costs and maintain a sound purchasing system. He/she is responsible for timely deliveries to the warehouse. The Purchasing Senior Buyer acts as a purchasing agent on behalf of Wind Creek Hospitality based on the needs of the business and in accordance with the Internal Controls, standard operating policies and procedures, and Illinois Gaming Regulations.

Duties And Responsibilities

Develops strategies to secure the highest quality products and services at the most competitive prices Maintains procurement records and ensures accuracy of system inventory Expedites purchasing and delivery of goods, items and services Interfaces with external and internal customers and/or departments on a by-weekly basis to ensure the procurement team is providing a value-added service to their internal customers Provides continuous improvement to daily purchasing operations by mentoring and training purchasing and internal department personal (Stratton Warren ordering system: PR/PO/BPO) Conducts regular analysis to report savings and reduce variances Monitors safety practices and makes necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards Evaluates department performance and makes recommendations to management to improve efficiency of operations Raises morale of department through quality of supervision and training and provides training for all department personnel to ensure extraordinary guest service standards are met Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Job Requirements (Please Ensure You Meet The Listed Requirements Prior To Applying)

High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within 6 months from start date as a condition of continued employment Associate’s Degree in Business or Related field– required OR Two (2) years’ Supervisory experience– required OR One (1) year experience as a Dual-Rate Supervisor in a Wind Creek Hospitality Department–required OR Two (2) years’ experience in the hiring position’s Department– required Six (6) years’ extensive buying experience – required, preferably in a casino/hospitality environment Experienced and proficient user in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook Two (2) years’ experience with Stratton Warren purchasing systems– preferred Adhere to and enforce as required, all regulatory, departmental, and casino policies and standards Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently Extensive communication, negotiation, prioritization, and planning skills Ability to forecast requirements and plan for and meet operation needs as the situation arises Ability to motivate, direct and communicate effectively with coworkers and subordinates Demonstrated ability to communicate, in English, effectively both verbally and in writing, and understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats Ability to effectively and efficiently move around all work areas   Must possess a high level of maturity, dependability, and punctuality Must be able to work independently and as part of a team Must be able to deal effectively with diverse departments and have flexibility to work in an ever-changing environment Willing to work odd and irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Must have an Occupational License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) pursuant to the Illinois Gaming Act and remain in good standing with the Illinois Gaming Board as a requirement for this position
