These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Carpenter Maintenance-Mechanic for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). The position works independently in a “zone”, or as the only Carpenter/Maintenance Mechanic on a particular campus reporting directly to a second level supervisor
Among the key duties of this position are the following: May guide and instruct other staff in the performance of a wide range of carpentry and mechanical duties required for all University facilities. Such duties may be based on work orders which provide little or no instruction or assistance. Responsible for estimation of work and procuring appropriate materials for him/herself or the group. May guide and instruct craft trainees. May perform any duties of the group. May be assigned to perform general duties in other trade areas.
