1. Purpose of Position\n

The Senior Center Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the KWA Senior Center, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants. This role includes planning, coordinating, and implementing a variety of programs and activities that cater to the needs and interests of senior citizens, particularly Asian and immigrant populations. The coordinator also plays a key role in managing resources, coordinating meals, and fostering community partnerships to enhance the services offered at the center.\n
\n

2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities\n

A. Program Development and Management:\n\nPlan, organize, and implement a diverse schedule of activities, classes, and events that promote the physical, mental, and social well-being of seniors.\nCoordinate congregate meal services twice weekly, ensuring nutritional guidelines are met and meals are culturally appropriate.\nCollaborate with the Social Service team to align activities with broader organizational goals.\n\n

B. Client Services and Support:\n\nProvide direct support to seniors, addressing their needs and concerns.\nFoster a welcoming and inclusive environment, encouraging participation among all members.\nConduct assessments to identify the needs and interests of participants, adjusting programming accordingly.\nEnsure senior participants safety, get rid of any hazards for the activities. \n\n
\n

C. Resource Management:\n\nManage the daily operations of the center, including scheduling, supplies, and facility maintenance.\nCoordinate with external vendors and partners to secure resources for programs and events.\nEnsure compliance with safety and health regulations.\n\n
\n

D. Community and Partner Engagement:\n\nBuild and maintain relationships with local organizations, senior centers, and community groups to enhance program offerings and avoid scheduling conflicts.\nCoordinate with external partners for joint events, resource sharing, and service coordination.\n\n
\n

E. Reporting and Administration:\n\nMaintain accurate records of attendance, program participation, and client feedback.\nPrepare regular reports for the Social Service Manager on program outcomes and operational needs.\n\n
\n

F. Team Collaboration:\n\nWork closely with KWA staff, volunteers, and interns to ensure the smooth running of the center.\nProvide training and supervision to volunteers and interns.\n\n
\n

3. Position Requirements, Competencies and Qualifications\n\nSatisfactorily pass criminal history and reference checks;\nMust have bilingual ability to speak, read and write English and Korean;\nMust have current driver's license, and current auto insurance, or be able to travel to different locations as needed;\nStrong understanding of assigned community, including best way for outreach;\nGood computer skills - data entry, MS Office, MS Excel Outlook Calendar;\nAbility to produce quality written communications;\nMust have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills;\nAbility to work independently and cooperatively with others;\n\n
\n

3.1Education\n\nHigh school diploma or foreign equivalent required; Some college preferred.\n\n

3.2 Experience\n\nExperience in non-profit organization or senior service field preferred.\n\n

Physical Requirements\n\nAbility to apply principles of logical thinking, to define problems\nAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagrammatic or schedule form\nAbility to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position\nClarity of vision at 20 inches or less, up to 20 feet or more\n\n
