Job Description
We are looking for a chemist who is advanced in ICP MS and FTIR to perform R&D and testing on specialty gases used in the electronics, semiconductor, and petrochemical industries. This includes laser gases, fluorinated gases, space gas testing, neon light gases, and xenon gas testing. Assignments are unique and vary weekly or monthly. The chemist will be involved in the R&D stages, leading to the preparation and analysis of samples using instrumentation. Each day starts with a team operational meeting to optimize throughput and set up a lab schedule, followed by hands-on bench work. The role demands efficient handling of projects to help clear the backlog.
ResponsibilitiesPerform R&D and testing on specialty gases used in various industries.Engage in unique and custom project assignments.Prepare and analyze samples using ICP MS and FTIR instrumentation.Participate in daily team operational meetings to optimize lab schedules.Handle projects in a timely manner to clear the backlog.Think and problem-solve during R&D stages.Create routine analysis procedures.Ensure awareness and adherence to safety protocols and procedures when dealing with highly corrosive and toxic gases.Essential SkillsProficiency in ICP MS and FTIR.Experience with Agilent Chemstation.Practical knowledge in R&D and analysis of specialty gases and volatiles.Ability to think and problem-solve during R&D stages.Awareness of safety protocols and procedures related to gas chromatography.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Chemistry or Physics.Experience with software such as Thermos Ex-Caliber, OpenLAB, Easy Chrome, and Agilent gas chromatographers.Aptitude in plumbing, tubing and mechanical machines. Ability to lift and move gas cylinders.Hands-on skills and the ability to break things apart and put them together.Work EnvironmentShift: 7 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday.
The work environment is an indoor lab with multiple rooms filled with instruments such as GCs, spectrometers, and ICPs, as well as workshop stations. The lab fosters a collaborative, workshop-styled atmosphere that encourages brainstorming, innovation, and rapid prototyping.
