Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced high level Chemist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and formulating new coatings technologies, resolving product issues, and mentoring junior staff. This role requires a strong skillset in paint and coating formulation, as well as the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product development.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and formulate new coatings technologies either from scratch or based on existing formulas using DOE methodology.Conduct product investigations to resolve issues related to manufacturing, non-conforming materials, customer complaints, and raw material changes.Coach, mentor, and train new employees, providing supervision for lab technicians and junior chemists.Provide progress updates on assigned projects through regular written and verbal technical reports to technical director, sales, technical service, and other functional groups.Develop new test methods to accelerate the development and commercialization of new products.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure success in product development and other corporate projects.Document and maintain records of experiments, results, and conclusions in lab notebooks and other appropriate data systems.Occasional travel for training, customer line trials, and support (10%).Essential SkillsStrong formulation experience in paints, coatings, waterborne coatings, solvent borne coatings, 1k and 2k urethanes, epoxies, polyesters, etc.Ability to develop new products successfully, utilizing design of experiments skills.Evaluate results and make necessary corrections, and work with team members to scale up new formulas for production.Proficient in chemistry, polymer science, wet chemistry, and R&D.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in paints, coatings, aerospace, urethanes, polyurethanes, epoxies, resins, and formulation.Skilled in design of experiments.Work Environment
State-of-the-art R&D Lab. The Senior Chemist will work in the R&D lab and collaborate with quality and production teams to ensure proper setup of new formulas. Office work is also required. The position operates on a 1st shift schedule, Monday through Friday. The company offers job security and numerous career advancement opportunities both vertically and laterally.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.46 - $57.69
