Description
Act as the central design figure on the team by designing the layout of grading, street improvements, and underground facilities within FEI design standards, agency processing requirements, and client expectations.
Perform complex design tasks and solve major design problems.
Under the direction of the Manager, help develop the design concept and design standards, coordinate with governmental agencies, and act as a design resource for team members.
Train and coach junior team members contributing to the team's professional growth.
Prepare cost estimates, develop schedules, and coordinate the work of the design team with the Manager.
Prepare technical reports and calculations (hydrology, hydraulics, sewer capacity, earthwork, water demand, etc.).
Assure work/design is of high quality, cost-effective, and meets agency standards.
Supervise Interns, Associate Engineers, Designers, and Engineers plus render assistance to maintain the project schedule. Coordinate staffing needs with the Manager.
Serve as a design resource and leader for the team in the absence of the Manager.
Assist the Manager with proposal, schedule, and “extras” preparation.
Initiate, implement, and promote new ideas and procedures.
Provide surveyors with staking plans and help resolve construction discrepancies.
Provide construction support and develop responses to RFIs.
Provide subordinate team members with complete information and criteria for completion of work.
Provide training opportunities which contribute to team members’ professional development.
Determine plan or report format and complete the necessary documentation for the design package.
Assist the Manager in processing plans for approval.
Punctuality and regular attendance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree: A B.S. in Civil Engineering or an equivalent discipline from a four-year college or university.
Experience: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of land development design experience.
Minimum two years independently solving complex engineering problems within land development.
Software Proficiency: Proficiency in AutoCAD, LDD, and/or Civil 3D software.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $122000.00/yr.
