Mott MacDonald is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced Civil Engineer in our New Orleans, LA office. You will be assigned to a team working on various civil engineering projects focused on transportation, drainage, or water/wastewater. We work to deliver sustainable outcomes for our clients and the communities they serve across the country. You will lead the design (planning through final detailed design) of civil engineering projects, primarily in transportation and water/wastewater for our Louisiana projects.

Responsibilities include:

Prepare and lead technical reports, specifications, design and contract documents, quantity take-offs, estimates, and calculations.Using design manuals and standards to develop geometric design plans, alignments, profiles, cross sections, paving and striping layouts, traffic control plansPerforming hydrology and hydraulic drainage calculations.Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making adaptations and modifications.Performing construction oversight through site inspections, investigations, and monitoring contractor complianceProvide support to project management and project control tasks.Attend and lead in project, client, and team meetingsCoordinate with other engineering disciplines, as neededMentor junior staff and actively participate in our ‘Early Careers Professional’ NetworkImproving your organizational skills and developing toward a project manager

To be considered for this position, you’ll need:

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited universityMinimum 5 years' experience performing civil engineering designActive Louisiana (PE) Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain within 6 monthsPrevious experience in geometric roadway designPrevious design experience in hydraulic drainage modelingUnderstanding in software’s such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office products (such as Word, Excel, and Project)Previous experience working with LaDOTD specifications.Previous construction administration experienceMethodical approach to problem-solving to undertake tasks efficiently and independentlyExcellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team membersWritten and verbal communication skills and attention to detail, with an ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings
