Your Role: Tetra Tech is seeking a driven full-time Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager for our Northeast operations with the ability to manage our Civil Engineering Department.  This position requires expertise in land development, infrastructure design, and project management, including oversight and leadership responsibilities.  Additional job responsibilities include:  

Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and contracts to facilitate firm growth and coordinate with business development managers.   Perform, manage, and oversee construction document preparation and design (drawings and specifications including site layout, grading and drainage, utility, storm water, erosion and sediment control, and roadway plans for commercial, residential, multi-family developments. Perform and manage permitting processes.   Communicate effectively with clients and authorities having jurisdiction to ensure client satisfaction and successful project completion within budget and timeline constraints.  Assess projects and their requirements.   Assess the impact and feasibility of site due diligence, preliminary layout and up to the final engineering design. Lead technical staff.   Create new business through client outreach, developing new service offerings, and enhancing current services.   Prepare drawings and schematic designs based on project requirements.   Study and assess drawings, plans, specifications and other documents relating to construction projects.   Create, review, and approve civil and structural plans, calculations, and permitting documents for submittals to customers.   Experience with creation and review of typical civil submittals and other state/federal permitting requirements.   Determine budget, project schedules and scope of work and deploy appropriate staff.   Supervise project teams, including direct, lead and support other engineering and skilled personnel in managing and executing multiple tasks and projects.  Manage deliverables in a timely manner and within the budget.   Work closely with clients, architects, and other professionals on construction plans.

 

Qualifications:

Candidates must have 8-15 years of proven experience in civil engineering and site design.  Qualified candidates must also have/be:

Skilled in using computer analysis and drafting software during development of construction drawings, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and AutoDesk analysis packages, ArcGIS software, HEC-RAS and/or other G&D/hydrology software.  Able to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.   Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Must be able to read and speak English fluently with outstanding oral and written communication skills. Successful demonstration of subject matter expertise and technical leadership, and teamwork skills to support project pursuits and implementation of projects with existing and new clients. Strong commitment to safety and quality. Expertise in field of study to independently design and analyze site/civil projects.   Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods to the civil engineering industry.  Working knowledge of GIS techniques such as map production, editing, and geocoding. Proficient in MS Word and Excel. Able to work with team members, clients and other professional disciplines. Must be able to interact successfully with all levels of staff, clients and vendors, work in a collaborative process, able to plan, and organize and implement with successful and timely results.

In addition:

This position requires driving on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

Degree / Certifications:

B.S. degree in Civil Engineering Registered as a Professional Engineer in Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, or ability to become registered within 6 months.

Work Environment:

Work will be in both office and project site settings. Must be able to occasionally travel to project sites.
