About the job:
Kent is looking for a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to be based in Houston, TX.

This position has primary responsibility for project level coordination of all civil/structural engineering activities, ensuring that all engineering work is completed on schedule, on budget and in accordance with client and company established work procedures and quality standards.
Skills and Responsibilities: Provide civil, foundation, and structural design of medium to large size engineering projects.Define and review scope of work, prepare engineering estimate at both proposal and design level and schedule for civil/structural engineering portion of work in a project. Prepare accurate and complete designs and calculations as required to meet project requirements.Coordinate with other disciplines and assist project to ensure effective quality product.Conduct field investigations when needed; produce field reports with detailed sketches.Keep up to date on new engineering processes, techniques, and standards.Develop and recommend improvements in engineering and design standards to lower cost and improve work quality and facilitate maintenance.Ensure that effective methods and design/engineering techniques are used.Resolve project issues and problems.Provide technical guidance and supervision to discipline team in the project.Contribute to a team environment by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner.Work autonomously without direct supervision.Perform other duties as assigned. In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: BSCE degree required, MSCE preferred, 8-15 years of hands on civil/structural experience required in petrochemical, refinery, or other heavy industries and 3-5 years of experience as a lead civil structural engineer is a big plus.P.E. license (preferable in the State of Texas) is required or able to obtain by comity within six months after joining Kent.In depth knowledge of civil/structural computer applications.Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes in technology.Ability to integrate new technologies into daily work processes.Experience working with other disciplines understanding their interface requirements.Experience in construction of plants desirable.In depth knowledge of civil/structural standards, design codes and practices such as IBC, ACI, AISC, PIP, and ASCE codesProficiency with finite element analysis, Staad Pro, Staad Foundation, Mat 3D, Foundation 3D, RISA 3D suite.Working knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D modelling.
Communication:Excellent verbal, written communication skills required.Full fluency in English is required.
