Key Objective:
To produce a high-quality work product on casualty claims with a focus on risk managed, special accounts and auto claims.
Major Responsibilities:
Handle commercial and personal lines liability and auto claims of moderate to high severity; Handle commercial and personal lines liability and auto coverage claims. Conduct and direct proactive investigations on all aspects of the claim. Secure and review all supporting documentation including expert reports and legal opinions. Assess loss documentation and its impact on the quantum of the claim; Verify and analyze coverage under various commercial liability and automobile policy forms; Establish and maintain accurate and timely reserves within corporate guidelines that reflect the investigation and assessment; Manage cases in litigation in compliance with corporate litigation guidelines; Manage the use, work product, and expenses of outside vendors, including lawyers, independent adjusters, and other experts; Maintain an active diary on all files and adhere to file reporting requirements; Provide superior customer service, and build and maintain excellent business relationships with all external customers; Regularly meet with clients to review claims processes; Work closely with external customers, namely brokers and third party administrators; Liaise with underwriting and the Claims Business Consultant to review current accounts and provide assistance with prospective clients. Completion of University degree / College diploma and/or equivalent experience required. Minimum of 5-10 years of insurance industry experience Completion of CIP is an asset Superior written and verbal communication skills; Prior knowledge of auto, general liability, excess/umbrella policies and principles; Excellent customer service skills; Excellent time management and organizational skills; Demonstrated aptitude for evaluating, analyzing and interpreting information; Demonstrated exceptional organizational, problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills; Excellent knowledge of litigation management strategies; Capable of working in a very busy and collaborative fashion, with a wide spectrum of people; Must possess an aptitude for technical, detail-oriented work; Ability to work effectively under pressure.
