The Senior Clinical Data Engineer develops scalable, high-performance data infrastructure to support AI-driven analytics, precision medicine, and advanced data science initiatives across Providence St. Joseph Health. Partnering with clinician-scientists, data scientists, and healthcare researchers, they build multi-modal data pipelines, ensure data integrity, and create tailored solutions across multiple teams and projects. Their work enables machine learning models, NLP solutions, and a next-generation patient data ecosphere, integrating disparate data sources and workflows into a cohesive strategy for healthcare innovation.
A core focus of this role is managing complex data sources, automating quality assurance, and integrating datasets to drive AI-powered research and deployment of precision medicine innovations. The Senior Clinical Data Engineer ensures that structured and unstructured healthcare data—spanning electronic health records (EHR), genomics, imaging—is accessible, reliable, and optimized for large-scale AI-driven insights and precision medicine implementation. This position requires expertise in data architecture, ETL development, and cloud-based platforms (Azure), along with proficiency in SQL, Python, and Databricks.
Beyond technical execution, they provide strategic leadership in data engineering, mentor team members, and drive continuous improvement in data architecture and performance. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree - Health Information Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, Healthcare or a related clinical or analytic discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 5 years - A equivalent of a minimum of years of relevant data analysis; a biomedical setting is preferred. Experience with database query and analysis languages (e.g. SQL, R, SAS, Python) and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, D3).Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree - Health Information Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, Healthcare or a related clinical or analytic discipline. Certification in an IT discipline, application, or tool within 1 year or hire.Salary Range by Location:
