Labcorp is implementing an exciting new "big data" approach to cancer testing. We are integrating the test results from our national oncology testing business into an enterprise data warehouse to enable a variety of data mining applications.
The Real-World Data Informatics Team at Labcorp is seeking a Senior Clinical Informaticist to support emerging and growing revenue-generating activities related to RWD products. This role requires expertise in curating RWD, utilizing methodologies and deliverables common to the field, and performing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and execute data integration projects for diverse healthcare data sources using standard interoperability exchange protocols.
Apply crosswalks, data mappings, and standard coding systems (e.g., ICD-10, SNOMED-CT, LOINC) to unify diverse datasets.
Lead the curation of healthcare data into semantic interoperable formats that support research and commercial activities.
Define clinical concepts using standard medical terminologies and develop consistent data models for seamless data exchange and accurate data capture.
Validate and ensure the integrity of clinical data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with industry regulations.
Provide hands-on support and mentorship to junior medical informaticists, guiding them through complex technical concepts and project tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience OR advanced degree (MS/MPH) in a STEM field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
Proven expertise in data modeling/querying, data integration/harmonization, data quality, and data standards in the healthcare or life sciences industry.
Demonstrated ability to showcase relevant expertise through presentations, software development, technical publications, and/or application knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or PharmD).
Experience working directly with RWD across multiple therapeutic areas.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills with a proven ability to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities in a team setting.
Experience in larger, matrixed organizations.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Familiarity with clinical practice and research.
Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, Jupyter Notebooks, cloud computing platforms, and collaborative development tools.
Expertise in healthcare knowledge standards and controlled terminologies (e.g., SNOMED, LOINC, RxNorm), standard data models (e.g., OMOP, HL7 FHIR, SDTM), and healthcare interoperability standards (e.g., HL7 FHIR, HL7 v2, X12, NCPDP, CCD, CCD-A).
Exposure to LIMS and/or EMR data representing the clinical patient journey.
Knowledge of HIPAA, GDPR, and other data privacy regulations, along with regulatory considerations for software development or data delivery in regulated spaces.
Strong project ownership and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Working Conditions:
This is a remote/work-from-home position.
Occasional domestic travel (1-2 trips annually).
Regular computer use for approximately 6-8 hours per day.
Ability to read and understand complex directions in a professional corporate environment.
