Senior Cloud Architect

 *We are open to supporting 100% remote work anywhere within the US*

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Architect who is customer-focused and passionate about helping customers modernize to scalable cloud solutions.   This opportunity is client facing and experience in working directly with clients in the federal space is a high priority.

This position requires a high level of technical expertise to complement excellent planning, coordination, and communication skills. You will play a critical role in formalizing, and maturing, and delivering our product offerings. You are enthusiastic about DevSecOps approaches for testing, delivery, and operations. You also tailor communications for a variety of audiences and bring clarity to the details around complex problems. Most importantly, you understand the importance of delivering the right solutions for our customers.  

What you’ll be doing:

DevOps Pipeline Management:

Design, implement, and maintain a CI/CD pipeline using tools like Git and Jenkins.

Automate build, test, and deployment processes for Appian, Salesforce, MuleSoft, and Druid AI applications.

Optimize pipeline performance and ensure high availability.

Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

AWS Cloud Infrastructure Support:

Knowledge in managing and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure components, including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, and IAM.

Ensure the security and compliance of cloud infrastructure.

Monitor infrastructure performance and optimize resource utilization.

Implement and maintain monitoring and logging solutions.

Collaboration and Support:

Collaborate with development teams to integrate their applications into the DevOps pipeline.

Provide technical guidance and support to development teams on DevOps best practices.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the pipeline and cloud infrastructure.

Continuous Improvement:

Stay up-to-date on the latest DevOps tools and technologies.

Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the pipeline.

Implement and promote best practices for cloud security and compliance.

Provide technology leadership and mentorship to drive multiple teams and stakeholders towards a successful solution built on Appian, Salesforce and AWS. 

Serve as the primary representative for technology topics with customer leadership in the federal space 

Collaborate with the Appian workstream Architects to translate business needs into solution architecture, making frequent use of diagrams to help communicate with broad audiences. You will delve into Appian architecture training, as necessary, to comprehend Appian solution design and standards 

Help balance of the needs of security, tech debt, feature, and defect work 

Evolve the team’s capabilities toward high performing DevSecOps practices, including refining release strategies, expanding use of cloud development tools, and continuously optimizing development processes 

Quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new and emerging technologies and identify effective ways to incorporate into a roadmap  

Identify cloud technologies and architectural updates that can improve system performance, scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability 

Ensure solutions are developed and packaged in an easily consumable and repeatable way for customers and internal technical teams 

Collaborate with Security stakeholders to ensure solutions comply with regulatory policies and ensure maintenance of system security documentation 

Present and defend architectural, design, and technical choices to internal and external audiences 

Required Skills:

Bachelor’s Degree   

7+ years of experience building, testing, and delivering production web-based systems  

5+ years of Appian application architecture or Appian product development experience  

5+ years of experience communicating directly with senior business stakeholders in a federal space  

5+ years of experience leading technology teams 

5+ years working with scripting languages such as (e.g., Bash, Python).

5+ Extensive experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, Lambda.

5+ Proficiency in Git and Jenkins, and experience with other CI/CD tools.

5+ Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.

3+ years of experience in defining cloud system architecture  

3+ years of experience building automation pipelines  

3+ years of experience writing automated tests  

  

Desired Skills:  

Strong communication skills and business acumen  

Experience with the Appian platform or other low-code platforms  

Experience with software development working in Agile and Scaled Agile teams, including Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification  

Public sector consulting experience at the federal or state level.  

Experience with NIST 800-53 documentation and the FISMA authorization process.  

Experience leading the O&M phase of the product lifecycle  

Experience with a range of test tools and strategies for unit, acceptance, performance, and regression testing

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$123,765.00 - $210,400.00
