Senior Commercial Credit Administrator I

The hiring range for the Senior Commercial Credit Administrator I is $175,000 to $260,000 annually along with incentive opportunities, creating a competitive total compensation package based on our pay scale, and may be modified by location and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Commercial Credit Administrator reports to the Deputy Chief Credit Officer and is responsible for overseeing the commercial loan approval process, including the management of a team of credit administrators.  Primary responsibilities include the review and approval of a broad range of commercial, agricultural and real estate credits which fall outside the approval authority of the credit administrators, regional commercial lending managers, relationship managers, or other individuals, departments or branches.  The Senior Commercial Credit Administrator has a strong credit background, including cash flow analysis, tax return analysis, balance sheet and income statement analysis, construction and analysis of projections and agricultural budgets, and general commercial and consumer underwriting and loan structuring.  The Senior Commercial Credit Administrator is completely conversant in the Company’s credit policy and procedures as well as regulatory issues and actively uses this knowledge base to promote sound loan growth and portfolio management.  The Senior Commercial Credit Administrator helps the credit administrators, relationship managers, branch managers and the Bank’s other credit representatives’ structure competitive credit packages which meet the needs of our customer base, adequately protect the Bank and provide a fair return for the Stockholders.  In addition, the Senior Commercial Credit Administrator is responsible for the overall commercial underwriting process from origination to loan closing.  The Senior Commercial Credit Administrator is also responsible for policy and procedure review and enhancement as well as maintaining a high-quality commercial credit portfolio and reporting on that portfolio periodically.   

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manages and provides leadership to a team of credit administrators.

• Reviews and approves/declines various loan requests as appropriate.

• Confers with credit administrators, and regional or branch personnel to discuss credit options for borrowers.

• Participates with credit administrators, relationship managers, branch managers, and the Bank’s other credit representatives on both internal and external customer calls as appropriate, providing credit expertise in support of the commercial lending sales function.

• Requests any additional information needed to complete underwriting and processing and recommends any additional credit approval, documentation or structuring requirements.

• Recommends commercial lending, pricing and underwriting strategies, policies, and procedures to Credit Administration.

• Assures customer loan requests are processed accurately and timely.

• Provides exceptional assistance and support to all branches in answering questions relating to loans.

• Maintains a high-quality commercial credit portfolio including appropriate risk grading.

• Responsible for the overall processing of commercial loan requests, from origination to loan closing, including the loan documentation/boarding process and post-closing follow-up items such as the gathering of required financial information and measurement of financial performance covenants.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintains a current understanding and recommends changes to the Bank’s underwriting guidelines, procedures and policies as well as regulatory requirements for documentation and regulations relating to lending.

• Assists Deputy Chief Credit Officer in preparation of Director Loan Packages, ALLL analysis, and other reports as needed.

• Maintains a current understanding of and complies with Reg B – Fair Lending, Community Reinvestment Act, HMDA, Bank Secrecy Act, Suspicious Activity Reporting, CIP, Gramm-Leach Bliley Act – information privacy, and OFAC regulations.

• Actively involved in the review and creation of existing and new credit policies, underwriting guidelines and templates, and various other forms and procedures.

• Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED

• Undergraduate degree in business or related field, preferred. 

• 10-15 years of increasingly responsible positions in areas of lending or credit within a financial institution.

• Established analytic ability to underwrite diverse and complex loan products.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills. 

• Proven track record of success demonstrating leadership and management and coaching skills.

• Excellent organizational skills and work habits that support involvement in multiple areas and tasks at one time.

• Ability to utilize Bank’s computer systems, personal computers and Windows driven programs.
