DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Houston Health Department (HHD) is seeking a highly qualified individual to: Acts as a liaison between City departments, public interest groups and diverse ethnic groups in the community
• Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with neighborhood groups, volunteer organizations, the general public, partners and stakeholders.
• Serves as a resource to the general public, responding to inquiries and providing information on the various types of departmental services, programs, and projects; as well as act as Liaison between stakeholders and clients.
• Assists in developing training programs to improve interactions between the department and community stakeholders.
• Assists in developing training programs to improve interactions between the department and communities.
• Interfaces with departments and the community to convey concerns and reactions.
• Performs other duties and special projects as requested.
WORKING CONDITIONS
There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions. The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, Business Administration or a related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Four (4) years of professional experience in community organizational work, resource and referral services, or a closely related field are required.

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**

GRANT FUNDED POSITION
Grants & Special funded positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred. Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
